10th Karachi International Book Fair Haul

10th Karachi International Book Fair Haul

I have been posting Karachi International Book Fair Hauls for as long as my blog has existed, that is for past two years. Even though due to my unforgiving schedule I haven't been able to get into a decent reading routine, I can still miss a Sephora sale for KIBF. It's a bookworm's heaven and I have been to all of them till date. KIBF is held in December each year and it is GINORMOUS! There are booksellers from all around the region as well as globe! I get most of my books from Paramount and Liberty Books. This time around since my brother was in town, we picked up tons more than what I have been getting for past two years. I won't be showing all of our books because this post will get too long that way, but I will be showing what have gained most hype in the past few months and a couple others. You can however check out more of what I got on my Instagram though that's not all either.

Maybelline New York Baby Lips - Cherry Me | Review and Swatch

Maybelline New York Baby Lips Cherry Me Review and Swatch
Maybelline New York Baby Lips in Cherry Me - 350 PKR*
This post has been long overdue, but I wanted to be completely sure on how I feel about it before my final verdict. Maybelline New York Baby Lips has been around for what seems like forever now. There has been so much hype and hue, mixed opinions, on this product that prior to using I thought this might not be all that great after all.

Baby Lips come in a wide range of flavours, but there were 3 released in Pakistan about a year ago and recently MNY has released a few electro ones too. My pick out of the former 3 has been Cherry Me mainly because I am drawn to red lip products. This one gives a sheer glossy red tint to lips and smells nice and fruity. The lip balm contains botanical extracts from Centella Asiatica, vitamin E, C, B5 and Shea Butter for keeping lips healthy and moisturised. It also has an SPF 20 to protect against sun damage. The packaging is cute and sturdy as the cap fits snugly.

New Year Outfit Idea and Nail Art

New Year is around the corner quite literally and I have gotten into the festive mood only now after my semester finals. While I feel absolutely excited about 2015, I don't think I will be actually going out on New Year this time, but I might be wrong. Nonetheless, I have put together an outfit idea for you guys and a chic night out nail art for which Julep inspired me as part of their 'Deck Your Nails' campaign. Enjoy!

New Year Outfit Idea
Jumpsuit // ASOS
Watch // Olivia Burton
Belt // ASOS
Meryl Heels // Jeffrey Campbell
Earrings // Giovanni D'ercole
Clutch // Addison
For me comfort comes above all and therefore I'd actually prefer a jumpsuit over an evening dress when hanging out with the people I am close to on a new year eve. Navy blue is my formal wear colour and just to sass things up I'd use gold for accessorising. Keeping it simple with a two colour palette, I would pair a gold belt with the jumpsuit for the actual outfit and then throw on a gold watch, a gold box clutch, pointy gold earrings and matching high heels.

If you are a makeup lover then you must have the proper makeup tools for creating different looks. Brush plays very important role in makeup, especially in eye makeup. A good and quality brush helps you to create your desired look quickly and efficiently. MUA is a famous makeup brand with low cost and high-quality products. They have introduced their own brush range. The brushes are made up of soft and good material. Each brush has a unique code with which one can easily find the purpose of each brush e.g: E1, E for EYE. I picked up one of them and today I am reviewing MUA E1 eyeshadow brush. Let’s see what I have to say about it.

Life Updates; Missing, Blues and Cool Subscription

Life Updates: Missing, Blues and Cool Subscription

I usually don't post such life updates on here, but I thought I would because this is my main platform to reach out to my readers rather than social media. I hope you miss me because I miss you all and my blog badly. As you could tell, the last few months of twenty-fourteen got me thrilled more than ever to keep up with my blog and honestly I began to somewhat neglect my academics. Even though I managed to get good grades in mids, I had been running away from tests and all that stress. I feel blue and anxious, but it's high time now as my practicals just ended and finals will begin coming Monday, so I will be away for a while.

Color Studio Professional Haute Nail Polish - Superman Blue | Review and Swatch

Color Studio Professional Haute Nail Polish - Superman Blue | Review and Swatch

Color Studio Professional nail polishes are absolutely amazing for the price. I recently picked up this cobalt blue shade called Superman Blue which looks just as masculine as it sounds and I feel it can be worn all year round. The formula is great and fast drying. The shade is glossy, non-streaky and looks good enough with a single coat but for full opacity two coats are ideal. It lasts on nails for 3-4 days without chipping, but the gloss gradually lessens like it does with most nail polishes. The chunky bottle is sturdy and the applicator is of good quality too.

Fashion Pakistan Week A/W 2014 | Through My Kaleidoscope

Fashion Pakistan Week A/W 2014

This week has been the craziest this year after the wedding season back in Aug/Sep, because I had to meet numerous academic deadlines, run last minute errands and above all attend Fashion Pakistan Week A/W 2014. Since this was my first fashion week that I could attend, I was pretty thrilled but a bit taken aback by the lack of punctuality. There was a ton of eye candy and I did spot many summer shades. While some designers cleverly incorporated S/S hues and trends, others could have been more thoughtful. Nonetheless, I would congratulate the FPW Team and all the designers for making the event huge and bringing their ideas to life.

As mentioned in my previous FPW post, before the actual shows a Millennial show was held in which new designers displayed their talent.

Sigma Beauty Fall Softly Collection | Review and Swatches

Sigma Fall Softly Collection
Sigma Beauty Fall Softly Collection*
This fall Sigma Beauty went out of the way and came out with a gorgeous collection that reminds me of some Beverly Hills high school hottie. Featuring cool toned pastels and roasted hues, unlike the mainstream berry shades, it has been aptly named ‘Fall Softly’. The collection comprises of four blushes, an eye shadow palette, three lip vexes, and released for the first time, three lip bases. There’s something for all skin tones in the Fall Softly range which makes it even more amazing.

Color Studio Kohl Addict Black Kajal | Review and Swatches

Color Studio Kohl Addict Black Kajal Review and Swatches
Color Studio Kohl Addict Black Kajal - 299 PKR*
The Color Studio Kohl Addict Black Kajal was introduced to us exactly two weeks back from now at its launch along with some other new CSP releases at Cafe Forty4. I have worn Kajal in my waterline for as long as I can remember since its a traditional makeup item. However, over the past year I almost stopped wearing it at all as I just didn't have one that would not smudge. Now I am well aware that there are a handful of Kajal pencils out there which claim to be waterproof and smudge resistant, but Kajal is such a basic thing that I always forget to pick one. So when I got Kohl Addict in my Color Studio goodie box, I was pretty thrilled to bring back Kajal in my life.

Pond's White Beauty BB Cream | Review and Swatches

Pond's White Beauty BB Cream Review and Swatches

I got on to the BB cream bandwagon mainly because I did not want to waste my expensive foundations on daily wear. Plus BB creams are a much toned down version of foundations with added benefits which make them all the more ideal for everyday use. So, not too long ago I shared my unfortunate experience with the Etude House BB Bright Cream, which if you have been sticking around lately know how I have been utilizing. Anyway, like before I did consider Garnier but after seeing it on girls around me, getting an unhappy opinion from my cousin and swatching it in the store (looked ashy), I decided to let it pass yet again. That brought me to the only other easily available and much loved option; Pond's White Beauty BB Cream.

Halloween Look: Creepy Rainbow Clown

Halloween Look Creepy Rainbow Clown

Firstly, I would like to thank you all for an overwhelming response on all of my Halloween looks! I feel absolutely touched by all the appreciation from you guys, people I look up to like Wafa Khan, my family, my best friend, my circle and even from people I don't even know! So, I am extremely grateful for all the love and support because it encourages me to do better. :) (Sounds like I just won an Oscar! :P )

Halloween Look: Half Skeleton

Halloween Look: Half Skeleton

I did this Half Skeleton, Halloween makeup, last week and was so happy with how the photos had turned out to be but then I lost all the data while transferring! -_- So here is the only picture you are getting for this post, apologies! :( Anyway, I was inspired to do this look by a photo that Illamasqua posted on twitter the other day.

Sigma 3DHD Brushes | Review

Sigma 3DHD Brushes Review
Sigma 3DHD Brushes*
This October, Sigma Beauty came out with two unique 3DHD brushes as an extension to their infamous Sigmax Collection. All the top beauty gurus have been talking about them and I feel so stoked to get a chance to try these out! If you have been around for long enough, you know that my brush collection mainly comprises of Sigma because they are all I really need. The new releases are two synthetic fibre brushes, one is a Kabuki and other is a Precision brush that is supposed to work just like your fingers. Like all of the Sigma Brushes these are high quality, soft bristled, scratch-resistant brushes as the handles are coated with 8 layers of paint and have unfading holographic texts. However, what makes these beauties stand out is their never before seen shape. According to Sigma, the brushes have been designed in such a way that you wouldn't need to move even a single face muscle while applying your foundation and that is what we were challenged to do.

Behind My Blog | A Virtual Blog Tour

A Virtual Blog Tour

I was tagged by the lovely Noor Unnahar from Noor's Place to do this virtual blog tour which is such a cool way of letting my audience know what happens before a blog post is published! So without further ado, let's get started.

1. What am I working on?

At this point, I feel quite content with how my blog is look-wise and content-wise. Though I have been trying to post as often as possible because I do have a very hectic schedule which I'm sure everybody already knows, especially if you are on my twitter. In addition to that, I am still working on getting better photos for my blog posts.

L'Oreal Color Riche Nail Polish in Rouge Pin Up | Review and Swatches

L'Oreal Color Riche Nail Polish in Rouge Pin Up - 699 PKR*
This was my first ever nail polish from L'Oreal and my initial thoughts were this bottle, though cute and luxe, is a bit small for the price, 'it's just a red after all'. The quality though managed to blew me away.

Halloween Look: Bambi/Deer/Fawn

Halloween Look: Bambi/Deer/Fawn

Even though, we don't really celebrate Halloween in my part of the world and I'm not superstitious at all, this time of the year for some reason has always been my favourite! I love doing Halloween makeup on my own and there was this really cute 'Bambi the Deer' look that Emma from milkteef did last year! I just couldn't get over the fact how adorable she looked, yet never got around doing it on myself back then. However, recently Emma from Kittenmoustache posted a 'Fawn Tutorial' that instantly reminded me of how much I had loved the other Emma's Bambi. I felt so tempted to try it out that I did right away sans the hair and the lower lashes for I didn't have an appropriate pair on me. It was kind of a rough attempt with whatever I could find on the spot in my stash, but it turned out quite well. Kittenmoustache does the best tutorials, I followed all the highlighting and contouring bit of hers but the white spots are what I adopted from milkteef mainly because I didn't have a white liquid liner. Also, I used tea pink for lower lip while Kittenmoustache used brown. The picture quality isn't the best because these shots were taken from my phone, but I have still listed the products down in case you wonder and want to try it out yourself.

Holy Grail Products Beauty Edition

It's been a while since I posted anything other than reviews and blogger events, so this post is a little different. Over time I have found some products that I have been loving and I just wanted to share them with you all.

Makeup Revolution Amazing Lipstick in Dusky | Review and Swatch

Makeup Revolution, the brand that gained popularity very quickly and churns out new pieces ever so often, finally hit Pakistan a short while ago on Just4Girls.pk. Within a couple of hours of its launch, I placed a small order as I longed to try this brand out for quite a while now and couldn't contain my excitement. This was also my first time shopping from Just4Girls.pk and I'm glad to report that my order was handled smoothly. I received email updates on every step, from processing to packaging and dispatching. In addition to that I also got a confirmation call for my order since I was a new customer and they even called before delivery to make sure the parcel could be received. My order was delivered within 2 working days and the first thing from Makeup Revolution that I ever tried was this lipstick that I am reviewing today.

Magnum Pleasure Store in Karachi

If you guys follow me on Twitter and Instagram then I'm sure you are already aware that I am a full time foodie. Therefore, passing an invitation this tempting was absolutely out of the question.

Rimmel London Volume Flash Scandal Eyes Mascara | Review and Swatches

Rimmel mascaras have been my all time favourites. I have always loved their formula, consistency and the fact that they have never dried up on me. My first mascara, Extra Super Lash, was from Rimmel and till date it is one of the best mascaras I have ever tried under such an affordable price tag (almost half of other drugstore mascaras and even Scandal Eyes!). So, when I ran out of my last Rimmel mascara, Scandal Eyes was their latest offering. Therefore, I picked one up but in the waterproof version for it was priced equal to the regular one and it was about time I gave waterproof mascaras a whirl.

Pond's White Beauty Daily Spot-less Lightening Cream

Pond's White Beauty Daily Spot-less Lightening Cream - 220 PKR*
I have a combination/dry skin type and my main skin concern has always been dry patches which I have been successfully battling for over past six months with some major changes in my skin care routine. However, the stubborn discoloration that dry patches leave behind just gets worse with sun exposure. Sun has always been more damaging to my skin than an average person, resulting in a very sensitive skin type and long term exposure just aggregates dryness and blotchiness on my skin. Back in the school days my face and neck never matched my body at all, by being always 5-6 shades darker (Not exaggerating at all, imagine how terrible that is!). Now that my sun exposure has considerably reduced, the shade still varies between 3-4 shades darker than my actual complexion. I am not a fairness freak, but I have never been able to achieve a balance between my overall complexion. The closest I get is only during summer vacations when I stay at home for a month or two. The difference even then remains of 2-3 shades.

It's My Blog's 2nd Anniversary!

Around this time last year, my life was a totally different scenario. I have been so much more busy for the past year and I'm proud that I still managed to keep up with my blog. Alhumdulilah, I have been able to upgrade to my own blog domain along with better content, photography, layout, and traffic much more consistently than ever. I thank you all for sticking by as your support really keeps me going! I'm glad to announce that there are heaps of blogging projects I have been juggling with lately which only means that you will be getting more quality content in the near future! I also wish to arrange a milestone giveaway, as I have been hitting many, but I am a bit caught up with the university, work, social and family life at the moment. It is very crazy, but I have a giveaway on my to-do list so let me know what's on your wishlists! :D

p.s: Don't forget to subscribe to my newsletters via email here to keep up with exciting news and giveaway announcements. I promise you won't receive any annoying emails 24/7 and this subscription is not for usual blog posts. For that contact me separately to be entered in a different list. :)

Love you, butterflies! Stay blessed and choose wisely! :*

Sweet Touch England Lipstick 761 Matte | Review and Swatch

Sweet Touch England Lipstick 761 Matte | Review and Swatches
Sweet Touch England Lipstick 761 Matte - 270 PKR*
As soon as I twisted up and swatched Sweet Touch England Lipstick 761 Matte, I was like 'Whoa! This shade looks so similar to Lime Crime's Babette!', google that and you'll know what I'm talking about. 761 (I wish it had a proper name!) is a nude peachy-coral shade with warm, bright undertones which makes it a little rebellious than an ordinary nude. I personally steer clear of nudes because I don't find most of them flattering on my own complexion and style. The only nudes that I'd ever pick would ideally be on a warm pink scale, but this clearly was different with a bold twist. I was never much of a lipstick wearer and as surprising as it may sound, this lipstick somewhat influenced my makeup routine as I have been wearing lipsticks a lot more in general now. I am so in love with this shade, it is fairly pigmented but I don't usually wear it to its full opacity as it may look very eye-popping for everyday use. So, what I like to do is that I blend it lightly by pursing my lips and with my finger to the point where it looks like 'my lips but better'. You can see me wearing it here.

Catrice Gel Eye Liner - 020 It's Mambo Nr.2 | Review and Swatches

Catrice Gel Eye Liner 020 It's Mambo Nr.2 Review and Swatches

Catrice Gel Eye Liners have this reputation of being super creamy and lasting in the pot without drying for ages unlike most gel liners that too under an affordable price tag. I have been trying out this product for about a year now and there's a reason why it took me so long to review (read on to find out), but now that I finally sat down to write down my final thoughts, I got to know that Catrice discontinued it last year just around the time I had bought it! There were 5 shades available, named '010 Black Jack', '020 It's Mambo Nr.2', '030 In Love With A Robot' and '040 Sherlock Khaki Holmes' and '050 Black Jack With Goldie Hawn'. However, from what I have gathered, Catrice have brought back their black gel liner under the label of 'waterproof', though I believe the previous formula was waterproof too as I was told so by the salesperson (don't trust them though!), in a similar packaging as the previous one, but renaming it '010 Black Jack with Jack Black'. Apparently, this is the only shade out at the moment but lets hope they eventually bring out more.

Black is a classic liner shade, but I love brown more and since 'gel formula' is considered the 'Queen' of the eye liner lot, and I had the chance of picking one from Catrice, which itself is considered the 'King' of the industry when it comes to gel liners, matching or in fact even beating multiple high end brands like Bobbi Brown as claimed by many, I HAD to get one in brown. Even when that brown in person wasn't exactly the shade I wanted and the terrible salesgirls ruthlessly dragged her useless brush dipped in a dried out pot on the back of my hand. -sigh- This is what happens when you set your heart out for something.. no matter what, you expect it to work out somehow. I sound like a hopeless romantic at this point, but I had actually swatched 010 Black Jack previously in store and had fallen in love with the formula and consistency, because it was a dream, exactly how everyone else had described it. So, yeah, we all usually have a bitter experience when the nasty salesperson is around and assuming that testers never get thrown away from local shelves, I had high hopes for my brand new gel liner pot.

Sweet Touch England Glam 'N' Shine - 501 Bronzing Natural Review and Swatches

Sweet Touch England Glam 'N' Shine - 501 Bronzing Natural Review and Swatches
Sweet Touch England Glam 'N' Shine: 501 Bronzing Natural - 910 PKR*
Sweet Touch England Glam 'N' Shine is a versatile range of highlighting blushers available in eight shimmering shades. The shade that I got is called 501 Bronzing Natural which is a very pretty shimmer infused bronzing shade, as the name suggests, to add a healthy summer glow to the skin. It comes in a sturdy silver pan with a whooping 28 grams of product. This swirly, marble blush is a combination of mud brown and an iridescent white highlight shade with warm undertones altogether. On swatching it appears coppery while it blends out as a warm peachy shade, much lighter and lesser intimidating than how it appears in the pan. Bronzing Natural has little fallouts but nothing crazy. It is fairly pigmented, but it blends out very easily, so does require a little build up on my own complexion. It will work great for fair to medium olive/warm skin tones and would be ideal for somebody who has a light tan. However, this shade wouldn't really show up on darker skin tones.

Maybelline New York Clear Smooth All In One Shine Free Cake Powder Review and Swatches

Maybelline New York Clear Smooth All In One Shine Free Cake Powder Review & Swatches
Maybelline New York Clear Smooth All In One Shine Free Cake Powder - 250 PKR*
(Natural Lighting)
Maybelline New York Clear Smooth All In One Shine Free Cake Powder comes in two different compact sizes. One is rectangular and contains 9 grams of the product while other is its round mini edition which contains 3.5 grams. Today I'm reviewing the latter, which is called a 'To-Go' version since it's easy to carry around even in the smallest of purses! The simplistic looking lilac pink plastic compact, which reminds me of toy makeup, does not only occupy little space but is also sturdy. Though, it has a tiny mirror which could have been bigger in diameter to fit in the whole lid of the compact so that one could actually see their face, and a small sponge which I do not find very useful either since it's too dense and rubbery for my liking and barely deposits any product on the skin, so I use a powder brush with it.

A Beauty Blogger's Nutcase

Mr. Nutcase Customized Phone Cover

I recently had the opportunity of getting a custom designed phone case from Mr. Nutcase which I was very happy about as I love my gadgets and had been looking for a stylish cover for my Lumia. Mr. Nutcase is a UK based website which offers a variety of phone cases to choose from or you can always design one yourself on their website by uploading your own photos, which can also be directly uploaded from Facebook and Instagram.

Since I had the option of customising my own cover, being a beauty blogger I was looking for something along the line that would match my interest. When it comes to getting all dolled up, my favourite part is to spritz on perfume. Therefore, I started looking for a perfume illustration and that is when I came across Melissa Bailey's 'Vera Wang: Princess' illustration! It's just so pretty that I instantly knew this is exactly what I needed on my phone cover. Melissa Bailey is a very talented freelance illustrator from UK who has numerous big names as part of her clientele. I had her permission to use this image which was very kind of her. Check out her Blog and Facebook for more amazing work and be sure to show some love! :)

Blog Fest at Scentsation DMC, Karachi

Look who has been a bit out and about lately. On 26th June 2014, there was a Blog Fest held at Scentsation, Dolmen Mall Clifton, in which numerous Karachi Bloggers were invited and it was lovely meeting so many of them for the first time. The PR of the event was managed by Take II and the CEO of Take II, Tehmina Khalid was also present there herself. Initially, we were given the chance to explore the shop, swatch products and talk about our personal taste. Then Zarmina Khilji (Business Development Head) and Mohsin Feroze (Chief Executive Multitech) told us more about Scentsation and their journey in moving it up in the corporate world of Pakistan.

An Evening at the Raintree Spa

What's better than a pamper-eve right after a busy month of exams?! Last week, I had a spa date at Raintree Spa along with some of the Pakistani Beauty Blogging Community (PBBC) lovelies. I have been to Raintree before, as the very first Karachi Blogger's meetup that I had attended back in August, was also held there, and I must say that I fell head over heels in love with the place as soon as I entered. It's covered in plants with the walkway to the actual building paved with pebbles and has a fountain on right hand side which makes the spa look even more exotic than it sounds.

Maybelline New York Clear Smooth All in One Cake Powder To Go Version Launch At Savor Boat Crew

After being locked up in my study-room with piles of notes for almost a month, when Maybelline New York invited us to their recent launch event at the Savor Boat Crew, Karachi, I knew I had to go! The event took place on 20th June 2014, which was just a day before my last final exam, but only a look at the invitation card and reading the words like 'dockyard' and 'cruise' tempted me so much that I had to ditch the books for good.

Karachi Bloggers Meetup at Academy of Aesthetics

On 17th May 2014, Wafa Khan, who is a talented makeup artist and a bold Dubai-based Pakistani blogger, moderated a Karachi Bloggers Meetup at the Academy of Aesthetics, which was sponsored by the academy itself and Makeup Atelier Paris. There was a colour theme for us to follow in which we were given a choice to wear anything black, turquoise or purple. I wore a black and white digital printed shirt from Khaadi which had some kitschy truck art in the front and a pink and green pattern at the back.

Gemini: The Twins {General Misconceptions, Sign Associations and Gift Ideas}

The month (21/05/2014 - 21/06/2014) of the twins has begin and I had been requested to do a post about this zodiac sign since I myself am a Gemini, so here it is! ;) But first, let me make it clear that I absolutely respect your opinion and whatever you believe regarding astrology so please do not hold anything against me. I personally do believe in astrology as it is like science to me and makes sense! However, I do not follow it too closely as just the zodiac sign does not affect ones personality, there are other aspects in the birth chart too which can be overpowering.

General Misconceptions:

So let's begin with a few general misconceptions about Geminis and I'll try my best to defend my lot by telling you how it really is being a Gemini! :D

Beauty Wishlist 2014!

Isn't it fun to do wishlists in order to keep track of your shopping goals, and you never know who might grant your wishes! :P

Here are the top 10 products on my wishlist  this year in the chronological order.

1) theBalm Mary Lou-Manizer: If you remember, I had this on my wishlist last year as well! Ever since it came out, I have been lusting after it, but I don't know why every time I thought of buying this in the past, something or the other made me to change my mind. It's like as if I was always waiting for a perfect moment to purchase it. However, I'm determined to get it this summer!

2) Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in the shade Tipsy: There's just way too much hype about the Tarte blushes in the blog-world. I'm intrigued to try one out in this lovely shade for I am a nutter for corals.

3) Real Techniques Blush Brush: Okay, by now you can tell this wishlist mainly revolves around cheek products! I didn't realize any earlier either but to be honest, most days I just go out with a blush on. I have been on a look out for a good quality blush brush and RT's one takes the centre stage everywhere at the moment.

L'Oreal Mega Volume Miss Manga Mascara Review and Swatches

L'Oreal Mega Volume Miss Manga Mascara
L'Oreal Mega Volume Miss Manga Mascara*
We all love the doe-eyed, long flattering lashes and L'Oreal has recently come out with a fantastic addition for this lady-obsession in their mascara collection. Mega Volume Miss Manga Mascara has been inspired by 'Manga', as the name suggests, which are Japanese comics with characters having big hair, big eyes and big eyelashes as some of their prominent features. The idea in itself is very cute and spot on for making a mascara based on such a valid theme.

Sigma F84 - Angled Kabuki Brush Review

If you read my 'Oops Splurged!' post back in September, then you know how I ended up getting Sigma F84 Angled Kabuki Brush rather than the Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki Brush. Well, I felt a little bumped initially about not getting the infamous F80 itself, but after using F84 for past six months as my foundation brush, I can proudly say that there are no regrets and in fact, this brush has become my holy grail foundation brush.
