August Favourites '15

August Favourites '15

In July, I was so occupied with work that I hardly got time to enjoy anything including my makeup stash and food. However, this month, that by the way has passed too speedily, I got back in routine and made sure to try out new products while still loving some oldies. As a result, this is going to be a longer than usual favourites post, but I know a lot of you guys look forward to these so I hope you enjoy reading as much as I love writing these.

1. Nivea Daily Essentials Gentle Cleansing Wipes

Remember the time when I blogged about my Makeup Removing Arsenal and ranted about makeup wipes stating that baby wipes worked just as well if not better? Well, on my most recent superstore trip I decided to give them another chance and I was pleasantly surprised by these Nivea ones I picked. I have been using Nivea's daily essentials range for dry/sensitive skin for a couple of years and I am glad to report that these makeup wipes did not disappoint either. In fact, these are so amazing that I had to share them with you. Nivea Cleansing Wipes are not soaking wet and when I first pulled one out I thought these feel just as dry as the L'Oreal ones which I did not previously like. However, once I wiped it against my skin, this gentle face wipe effortlessly removed my makeup. The pack is a bit pricey at around 600 PKR, from the top of my head, for just 25 wipes but I can remove my Masarrat Misbah Silk Foundation, which is full coverage, heavy and a tad bit tough to take off, with just a single sheet and even then it still feels usable. There's hardly anything left for my Bioderma to remove once I use this and therefore I highly recommend Nivea wipes. These are the best ones I have come across so far! Super gentle, moisturising and even the sheets are nicely folded so you don't accidentally pull out more than one.

Meet My Angelic August Advertisers

This isn't how it always is, usually you meet my advertisers in an introductory post at the beginning of the month. However, since I was a bit caught up at the start of August, and one of my advertisers was out of town, we had to reschedule this post for later. These lovely ladies will be continuing through September for that very reason, but it is only just for me to give them their very own limelight. I would really call them angels for all their patience and keeping up with me through August.

Washing and Maintenance of Makeup Brushes

Washing and Maintenance of Makeup Brushes

As much as we love applying makeup, taking it off and washing the brushes is such a chore. However, if you do not wash your brushes regularly and do not take care of them, they will not only house bacteria but also, you will be needing new brushes sooner. Therefore, depending on my usage, I wash my brushes on a weekly basis but some of them, like foundation brushes, require washing after each use for flawless application. Now, brushes for me are a huge deal, since I know how much of a difference they can make when it comes to makeup application. Most of my brush collection comprises of Sigma Beauty and these brushes are not that easy to get hold of locally, besides they aren't the most inexpensive ones out there either. I have had much of what I still have for around 2 years now and none of my brushes has shed or broken. So, in this post I walk you through how I have been washing and maintaining the longevity of my brushes by following a few simple steps. Also, I have included my review of the Sigma Spa Express Brush Cleaning Glove* as it has now become a part of my brush washing routine.

It's My Blog's 3rd Anniversary!

It's my blog's 3rd anniversary and I feel tongue-tied. Three years, eh? In all honestly, knowing my nature, I am not consistent in keeping up with anything for this long and today, if I am still sitting behind my laptop, typing this post, even if not really knowing what to write, you can say that I found love in a hopeless place. Starting this blog on a whim, not even for once I have thought of giving up so far. I was always this awkward introvert, still am, who got underestimated by most people initially but I have never let that hurt me and that is how underestimations have always turned into expectations. I do not stand on either of the extremes to displease or please but what matters is that I am still standing and my knees just aren't as wobbly as they once were. During this course, I have had a fair share of insecurities and doubts, but I always tell myself, my blog is my happy place and I wouldn't let anybody take that away from me. Of course, the idea seemed silly to many around me when I started, some still do not understand the gist of it but either way they all started appreciating little by little, day by day, sometimes even off guard that they are proud of where I am now. So, as my token of love right back at them, I want everybody who has ever landed on my blog just to support my effort, to know that I am deeply touched and grateful for having them as a part of my internet dwelling. I truly do appreciate and I would love it if you stick around to water my roots.

Pro Advice on Liquid Lipsticks

Pro Advice for Liquid Lipsticks

The promise of super long lasting and matte drying liquid lipsticks seemed so alluring that most of us at some point got sucked in by it. Isn't it? However, I am sure the struggle only just began once we got on with our first tubes. Recently, I asked on my social media and local bloggers group to send in their liquid lipstick troubles and I was not at all surprised by their queries because those were the very same problems that I had faced too initially. Jot down your own and I am sure they'll match one or the other of these; messy application, uncomfortable to keep on, difficult to layer, flaking right off, transferring and not at all long lasting as per their claims.

I have been meaning to write a post on my own liquid lipstick experience for a long time, but I wanted it to be fruitful for you all. So, before giving you any advice, I had to perfect my own lipstick applying skills. Therefore, I carried out a little research to master this art. Even now, I wouldn't call myself a pro, but there is this very key technique that I know makeup artists use and I just took what I had to from it, played around a little bit and here I am with a fool-proof guide on how to make that liquid lipstick TWERK! -snaps in a Z-

Easy Makeup for Brown Eyes

I love playing with colours so much that I don't really have a single favourite, however, often I have noticed people find it tough to balance out everything when it comes to colourful eye makeup. Therefore, I have come up with a soft makeup look that can help you in enhancing your brown eyes without resembling a clown. For this, the key is simplicity and you can complete your eyes in just 4 easy steps. Let's jump right in.

Let's be real, this is where it all begin, didn't it? Packing on your mum's face powder was as real as it got back in the day. To be honest, I did not even know foundations existed when I was around ten and apart from that fruity, transparent, roller lip gloss, face powder was the only it makeup bit. Years later, we all still find face powders to be a purse essential even if now a lot more is loaded on before getting to the powder. As a result, today I am reviewing Jordana Perfect Pressed Powder, that I have been using for quite some time now. Before we move on to the performance of this product, I want you to take a minute and think what do you expect out of a face powder. You will find my own answer when you finish reading this post.

Luscious Angel Eyes Eyeshadow Primer Review and Swatches

Luscious Angel Eyes Eyeshadow Primer

Luscious Angel Eyes Eyeshadow Primer/Base has been time and again compared to the infamous Urban Decay Primer Potion, and even though I haven't tried the latter, getting my hands on this much-raved primer for much less was crucial. However, I had a hard time finding it in my most visited supermarkets, until a couple months back. Of course, at that time my excitement sky-rocketed, but the real test was yet to be taken.

Budget Friendly MUA Lipsticks

MUA Lipsticks Review
MUA Lipsticks L-R: Fawn Fancy, Shade 10

Not too long ago, I totally skipped lipsticks with a full face of makeup, because I always felt lipsticks require so much courage to be pulled off. That might have been the case mainly because the shades I was drawn too were usually on the bolder end of the spectrum while the hunt for lights and neutrals to suit my complexion was always on. Makeup Academy has been around as a popular drugstore brand for as long as I can remember. However, I never got the chance of trying anything from them because MUA is not sold locally but can be luckily bought at just4girls.pk as they now officially stock the entire range. I personally went for Makeup Revolution (MUR) over Makeup Academy (MUA) while it was still new but to be honest, all along I was always drawn to MUA lipsticks after reading so many positive reviews. Today I am reviewing two of the MUA lipsticks, Fawn Fancy and Shade 10. that I have been recently loving and in fact you have already seen Shade 10 in my July Favourites.

One revolutionary brand that took the Pakistani makeup industry by storm has to be Masarrat Misbah Makeup. Ever since its launch back in April, the line managed to attract considerable hype and their Silk Foundation, in particular, has been the most requested product for review by my own readers. I did feature it in my July Favourites recently but you can find all the details in this post. The Masarrat Misbah Makeup is known for being halal, cruelty-free and paraben free, so, all of this goodness makes them even more coveted.

Independence Day Style Then and Now

Some of my fondest childhood memories consist of decorating the house with buntings, playing 'Aey Jawaan' repeatedly on the tape recorder, getting festive badges of Pakistani flag from my uncle and most importantly dressing in green and white for celebration of Independence Day at school.

July Favourites '15

Masarrat Misbah Silk Foundation and MUA Lipstick

Low sleep levels, gloomy rainy days with no hint of sun, and staying outdoors for the most part, caught with work and social activities followed by Eid are all just excuse of my own incompetence of wisely managing time and making the most of what I had at hand. I have fallen way behind my schedule and saying that I am a 'sucker' is an understatement. I do duly apologise for missing in action and I will try the best I can to make up for the loss by blogging as often as possible.

Now since I was hardly having any "me-time" the past month, I only have a few products that I have been using on a daily basis to share with you guys. Do watch out for detailed reviews within this month.
