12th Karachi International Book Fair Haul

12th Karachi International Book Fair Haul
12th Karachi International Book Fair Haul
There are just so many things that I love about December! Don't you? I mean holidays, weddings and of course the Karachi International Book Fair (KIBF), where I get to load my cart with books, that too at discounted prices. I have attended all of the KIBFs ever till date and I hope this remains the case every year in the future as well. Even though I have so many unread books from my previous trips, mainly because university has kept me quite busy for the past four years, hopefully now that I am graduating, things will change.

Since the year I started blogging, I have been sharing my KIBF hauls, so of course, I am sharing what I bought this time too. First three halls are jam-packed with book stalls at Expo when the book fair hits Karachi, however, I mostly shop at Paramount and Liberty Books. In fact, this year these are the only two that I got all my books from. I have not bought as much as I have in the past because like I said I already have a lot left to read from previous fairs, and also most of the books that I wanted were out of stock.

3 Steps For A Flawless Base

3 Steps For A Flawless Base - Colour Correct, Powder, Apply Foundation
This post contains an affiliate* link.
You might have already heard that it all begins with a blank canvas and how it should be 'flawless' since the start. Let's be real, nothing is flawless and sometimes the flaws actually add to the personality. However, minimising distractions is the goal to bring attention to the most beautiful aspects. Not that there's anything wrong with anything (my brain would just not stop justifying everything it comes up with and counter-arguing, ugh). Anyways, in terms of makeup, for a flawless base, it is important to perfect the complexion in order to make your foundation look even.

Of course, the key is to take good care of your skin by focusing on a healthy diet and having a skin care regimen that keeps it clear. However, this more of a pre-requisite and something that you need to control over time. Now, I am no expert but I like to keep my own foundation routine quite simple. It helps me with my skin condition too (I have dermatitis, in case you are new here) and what's better than getting the job done in just 3 easy steps?

Gel Lip Patch And Sleep Mask - Do They Really Work?

Purederm Intensive Lip Care Gel Patch
Purederm Intensive Lip Care Gel Patch
There has been a surge of Purederm products in local supermarkets and most of them seem so intriguing that I just want to try them out for the sake of it. So a couple of months back, being a skin care junkie, I picked up an Intensive Lip Care Gel Patch and a Dual Step Aqua Sleeping Mask at Naheed. It has been a while since I have used them already but I just could not get around posting this review. Based on what I have seen online so far, the lip care gel patch was liked by quite a few people but I have not heard anything about the latter. So, the question is do they really work?

I like to keep my hands free so while I loved carrying a matching purse with every outfit as a child, as an adult it is not my favourite thing to do. It has been a while since I last shared what I carry in my handbag and though I do not carry much now either, there are always handbag and makeup essentials that I do need to have on me at all times. I have made the mistake of going out without these two on numerous occasions and then regretted. A lot of people like seeing such 'What's In My Bag?' posts so I figured I will do an updated version too. In case you are curious about what I had shared previously, click here. That was more of a tag post by the way.

5 Things I Do To De-stress On A Sunday

5 Things I Do To De-stress On A Sunday
Beauty Friends II Aloe Essence Sheet Mask*, Sally Hansen Hot Tamale Xtreme Wear Nail Color*
Rose Gal Triangle Alloy Cuff Bracelet*, Sigma Beauty Spa Express Glove* & Angled Kabuki F84
I just got done with exams and I am nearly through with my biomedical engineering degree (only final year project is left to be finished). Woot, woot! So, after a long and stressful week due to my finals where I barely slept, it is only fitting to slow down and pamper myself. I haven't been able to post for a while here either so I decided to share the five things that I do to de-stress on a Sunday!

1. Apply A Face Mask

I have simplified my skin care routine a lot for the better and after a recent hike in my dermatitis, switching out things has helped my skin to stabilise since. I will share all the details of my new routine in-depth in another post as I know some of you guys want to see a proper winter care post. Anyways, one thing that I still love doing are face masks but I only do them every fifteen days usually.

After a busy week, nobody is in a mood for anything fancy and when I say de-stress, I really mean it. Therefore, I opt for sheet masks over mud masks on a day like this because they are a lot easier to work with. You just have to apply one on your face, sit back and relax for half an hour and you are good to go. There is no need to wash your face afterwards and personally washing off mud masks seems like a lot of effort to me which I am not always up for.

My First Orange Lipstick Chronicle feat. Clazona Beauty Matte Lipgloss

Clazona Beauty 24 Hours Matte Lipgloss
Clazona Beauty 24 Hours Matte Lipgloss 511
The most common request that I have gotten over past few months is to review a liquid lipstick that is easily available in Pakistan. While, I have only reviewed one shade of Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick and one of Kylie Lip Kit on my blog so far, those of you who do follow me on social media are aware that things got a little out of hands and I have since collected a few more shades of Jeffree Star and was even gifted one of Kat Von D.

I know how I feel about all of them by now but the shoot for the blog will just take me a while and I want it to be perfect so I will try to get them up in December. Nonetheless, I have swatched them all on my Snapchat in the past and I guess Instagram stories too so do follow me @JadirahSarmad on my social media to keep up with such sneak peeks. Anyways, based on those swatches, a follower even asked me to find local dupes for all the Jeffree Star shades that I own.

A shampoo for your makeup brushes? That sounds interesting! Sigma Beauty has recently launched SigMagic Brushampoo and I like how they are always on a roll when it comes to adding new products to their range. The brand had first started with premium quality makeup brushes but they have since released a lot of high-quality makeup products, out of which Sigma Beauty Robust Line Ace is my favourite liquid liner and therefore, is a part of my everyday essentials. Anyways, Sigma has been innovative when it comes to cleaning products for their brushes since that is what they are still recognised for and we have seen numerous brush cleaning gadgets over the span of past couple of years. So, it was about time that they came up with their own cleaning agent too and here we are talking about SigMagic Brushampoo.

Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Review and Swatches
One minute we are all whining how hot Karachi is, next minute the sudden shift in weather takes a toll on our skin. Nothing drives me crazier than dermatitis getting out of control on my cheeks, but today we will spare it and talk about lips instead.  Dried, chapped lips do not only look gross but are quite painful too since the skin over our lips is thinner than the rest of our body. So, I always make sure to have a lip balm on me as soon as winters arrive and for the past few years Maybelline Baby Lips has been my saviour.

My love for earrings dates back to the time when I was a toddler and I actually made my parents get my ears pierced when I was only four years old. Even now I gravitate towards jewelry for ears more than anything else, be it hoops, cuffs or studs. In fact, I have worn ear studs all my life since dangly earrings were inappropriate throughout my years at the school. So when I discovered these Faux Rammel Round Square Alloy Earrings on Zaful, I couldn't leave the page without getting them.

For some time I had been seeing thick rubbery peel off masks being offered as part of expensive facials at salons and I wondered what was the deal with them. So I was pleased to find a "modeling face pack", yes, that is what it is called, in a PR package from Skin18 recently. The one that I got is called Inoface Chlorella Modeling Cup Pack and it is a Korean beauty mask which is available in a total of 10 options with a star ingredient for differing skin concerns.

Three 90s Trends That I Am Loving

90s trends back in fashion
Three 90s Trends That I Am Loving
I was born near the middle of 90s so most of the things that people say they did as a kid in that era are pretty much what I did only after crossing over to 2000s. While I do miss Tetris and the toys we had back then, nineties  fashion is what I adore the most from the last century. At the moment since almost everything is in style I am loving the fashion scene and have been experimenting a lot more. So, here are my top three favourite trends from that decade.

Best of Fashion Pakistan Week Winter Festive 2016

Fashion Pakistan Week Winter Festive 2016*
Shehla Chatoor - Tresor
Fashion Pakistan Week (FPW) is one of the most sought after fashion shows of Pakistan and I have been covering it for three years myself. While, I am not much of a fan of the winter season, I love winter clothing, be it western or traditional. At FPW the winter collections are supposed to embody festive vibes so they tend to comprise of heavy wedding style joras but a lot of people are not really pleased with the ones of that kind since they seem largely appropriate for Bridal Couture Week only. I personally, do not mind it much and I am not sure what is the exact brief that designers are given to prepare for this time of the year, however, it is highly commendable when somebody finds a balance and gives you something unconventionally festive for Pakistan.

Deciding what to wear for a class presentation is 10x tougher than choosing everyday outfits. The little rebel in me once wore this Cartoon Lion Pattern Voile Pashmina from Zaful* to a class presentation and totally rocked it. Being a university student, I have to give a presentation every other week and even though my teachers are not that strict about what we wear on a daily basis, one still has to look professional particularly for presentations. I do rely on my plain and classic kameez shalwars for most of them, however, I love styling western outfits too.

The importance of time is something that my father has always stressed upon and I can remember myself wearing a watch since I started schooling. There was even a point in my life when I was referred to as the 'timepiece' of the class and it was something I took pride in. The most asked question to me back in the school days was 'what time is it?' and even to this day you will never catch me without a watch or a pair of shades.

We often hear people say that how they wish they had another chance at life. While I would never say that since I know I will make the same mistakes all over again to be where I am because there is no other way when you are growing up in a setting that you haven't chosen, I would only like to go back to being a toddler to play some more. There was a time in my life when I dearly longed to be a kindergartener once again or at least join in as a teaching staff since I adore kids. So you can imagine my excitement when I recently got the opportunity of visiting Young Learners Preschool (YLP).

This is the month of Oktoberfest, which if you do not know is a grand German festival dating back to 19th century. It was first held in the celebration of the royal wedding when Prince Ludwig married Princess Therese and has since become an important Bavarian tradition. Now you know, Asia Live at Avari Towers is popular for promoting cuisine from all across the globe so this time around the restaurant is holding a week-long German Food Festival. It has already started and I was lucky to be there on the night of the opening which was 21st October. If you follow me on my social media, especially Instagram, you would know how exciting and splendacious my dinner was. The festival will last until 28th October and you can enjoy a buffet meal too, from 7:30 to 11:30 PM for 2150 PKR (exclusive of tax).

A lot of us are now anticipating sweater weather, and while I am more of a summer child because I hate how reptilian my already dry skin gets during winters, I love fall fashion. It still wouldn't be cold enough to turn off the air-conditioning for another couple of months in Karachi, yet this squirrel souled babe has started putting together warm clothing pieces to be ready for the season. I hope you remember my Zaful Stand Neck Embroidered Loose Fit Shirt* as I was on their website again and this time around I have picked quite a few things. My haul includes two winter clothing apparels, which you will be seeing in my future posts, along with four accessories one of which is my pair of Metal Bar Golden Frame Pilot Sunglasses*

Top 5 Easily Available Budget Buys in Pakistan

Top 5 Easily Available Budget Buys in Pakistan
So many new makeup brands launch every year but in Pakistan, we do not even have half of the older ones like NYX and MUA available in stores. Not everybody is up for online shopping since especially with makeup products, we like to swatch and see how products really feel and look like. Even if there are a few stores which now stock drugtore as well as high-end products, the prices are ridiculously high for both the categories. So, Asumbal from http://beautybyasumbal.blogspot.com/ suggested that we share our best budget buys when it comes to makeup products that are easily available in the local market.

Do keep in mind that makeup products are mostly sold for higher prices than actual ones in Pakistan so we had to set a budget of maximum 1500 PKR for each of our picks. This might still seem a lot to some of you guys but most of our choices cost much less. I know you guys also request me to buy more from the local brands and I try but I steer clear for the most part from buying incredibly cheap makeup products because I do have sensitive skin and brands like Medora have a high lead content in their products which is alarming. Therefore, I would not advise anyone to get them. I am by no means claiming that the ones listed below are perfect but I personally have not experienced any adverse reactions.

Kylie Posie K Lip Kit Review and Swatches

Kylie Posie K Lip Kit Review and Swatches
Kylie Posie K Lip Kit Review and Swatches
Kylie Jenner and her lips were the talk of town for a hot minute over the past couple of years and she made the wisest business move by launching Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits before the craze could lose its charm. When I first came across the lip kits, I wasn't too much of a fan and I'll tell you why. Firstly, I don't give into hype that easily so you will never catch me running out the door when something new launches. Secondly, none of the shades (Koko K, Candy K, Dolce K) really got my fancy as they seemed too light and bland for my taste. Thirdly, I initially found the liquid dripping print on the bottle along with her signature kind of childish. Above all, the price tag freaked me out because even though these retail for $29, which I thought was lesser than what I would expect from a multi-millionaire celebrity, the local sellers were demanding nothing less than $55 to $80 in Pakistani rupees (PKR).

MyGerrys Haul and Shopping Experience

PR Samples*
I know a lot of us are not much of a fan of online shopping because we like to physically see and feel what we are buying, however, online businesses have had a boom over the span of past few years and it is not only a lot more convenient at times to just *click* *click* *click* and shop, but also unavoidable when foreign brands are more readily available online than in stores. So, I was recently introduced to MyGerrys (mygerrys.com) which is an online portal that sells a wide range of products like clothes, cosmetics, gadgets, appliances, camera accessories, homeware, garden and outdoor goods, etc.

I ended up picking three random bits for myself which include E.L.F Small Stipple Brush, Revlon Parfumerie Scented Nail Enamel in Chocolate Truffle and The Body Shop Facial Brush With Lid. Now, I have only been using these for a few days so I can give you an opinion based on the first impression I have had so far.

Bourjeon Rock Collar Necklace

As a child, I remember collecting bangles and bracelets but once I grew a little older I began an affair with earrings. On the contrary, I have always seen my mum layer on necklaces and while I was always attracted to them, I am not certain why it took me so long to incorporate them in my own outfits. Now as an adult, I have been gravitating towards neck jewellery and when I saw this beautiful Rock Collar Necklace from Bourjeon, I knew it had to be mine. Bourjeon is a newly launched online portal for shopping jewellery and most of the things that I have seen on the website are statement pieces.

Trying Out More Bioderma Products!

Bioderma Sebium Pore Refiner and Atoderm Creme

Removing makeup is a chore but it is oddly satisfying too. You must be aware that it is very important to go over and over with a makeup remover until you see no more residue on your cotton pads. Otherwise, any trace which is left behind can clog pores and result in breakouts. I have talked about Bioderma Sensibio H2O being my go-to makeup remover time and again, the reason being it cuts down extra steps and hence speeds up the process.

The French brand has been locally available for a couple of years already but interacted with the bloggers for the first time recently. Bioderma had arranged a high-tea at Pranzo in August and I was impressed by the way this event was organised and how professionally they carried it out rather than being all over the place which is what we have experienced in the past at some blogger meetups. They told us some interesting facts about their products which even I as an avid user was not aware of. Like I knew that fatty acid is dissolved in micellar water and that is why it removes makeup effortlessly but I did not know that it has the same pH 5 as our skin and that is why it does not cause adverse reactions. The brand also elaborated on how their ideology is based on targeting the root cause of skin related issues rather than just focusing on the solution. Also, Bioderma micellar water contains no controversial ingredients like parabens and in fact, it has skin soothing cucumber extract.

Mix Makeup Like A Pro With Artiste Palette

Artiste Palette by The Pout Painters
PR Sample*
The Pout Painters, Fizzah and Sadaf, who are my favourite beauty blogging duo, came up with their own range of makeup mixing palettes called Artiste Palette. These girls are extremely knowledgeable and they know their stuff well so it was smart of them to launch something that is not readily available, especially in the local market.

Now, the kind of skin tone that I have, it is usually required for me to mix my foundation shades and I have been doing so for a long time on the back of my hand. I know some people mix their makeup on the lid or back of their powder compacts, et cetera, but I do not find it hygienic at all and I already have sensitive skin so I would never even want to risk it. Anyways, I do not like to get my hands covered in makeup either as it can always accidentally get smeared on my dress and some of it gets absorbed hence wasted too. Also, some foundations like the Massarat Misbah Silk Foundation* or cream eyeshadow products can stain the skin and it can be a pain to wipe them clean at the last minute right before rushing out the door. Furthermore, with products like L.A Girl Pro HD Concealer, which comes in a squishy tube with a brush applicator, direct application to face can be tricky as excess product often gets dispensed and since I used it for contouring, too much product can be troublesome to blend.

Style Fusion: Contemporary Tribal featuring Zaful

Stand Neck Embroidered Loose Fit Shirt
PR Sample*
I love style fusion because I don't believe in settling for just one thing. Only last night I was talking about how my style has evolved and what I currently wish for when it comes to upgrading my wardrobe in the Current Fashion Wishlist: Basic, Bohemian and Desi post. I had mentioned Zaful, an online portal for shopping fashion apparel, that has a wide variety of bohemian as well as modern and chic clothing and accessories. So, I got my pick from the brand which is this greige colour Stand Neck Embroidered Loose Fit Shirt and I couldn't wait to share it with you guys.

Current Fashion Wishlist: Basic, Bohemian and Desi

I think I have collected enough makeup over the past few months and therefore am now ready to stock my closet with new basics as well as some bohemian and desi (traditional) fashion apparel since my style has evolved a lot in the past couple years. Obviously, I have had the vision but it was always somewhere at the back of my mind and after a fair share of experiments it is clear to me that how I want to carry myself here on. I believe I do not have to just stick to one thing to express my style and therefore to sum it up I can best put it this way that I like a little bit of androgyny in my dressing but also would go all girly when it comes cultural attire.

I feel now is the time when I can shop some of the stuff that I have been eyeing since long. So sorry, Jaclyn Hill and Jeffree Star, those highlighters have to wait because I am into clothing at the moment.

It's My Blog's 4th Anniversary!

Four years and here I am typing another anniversary post without any prior planning. I do not particularly feel old but at this point I am not even half as content as I felt on completing my third year. There was a lot more that I had set for myself to achieve this time around and I do not have an excuse to give because life would never get any easier so one must learn to cope with everything. There is also no point in moping now and the only way forward is to be more organised.

Pakistani Food Festival at Asia Live, Avari Towers

Pakistani Food Festival at Asia Live, Avari Towers
No matter how far I travel from home and however many international delicacies I savour, nothing can be as exciting for me as Pakistani cuisine. I personally love spicy food but our country is so culturally diverse that it is reflected in our dishes. You can go from a 0 to 360 in a matter of miles and this is why I would say that Pakistan is a country that every foodie needs to explore. Asia Live at Avari Towers has been celebrating Pakistani Food Festival for the past two weeks now as August is the month of national independence. Now, if you keep up with me on my social media, you know how much I enjoyed on the 8th of August at Avari Towers which happened to be the opening day of Pakistani Food Festival.

As a starter, ELF was one of those super affordable yet popular brands that made my eyes glisten. However, I never really got around getting anything from the brand all this while and that was mainly due to lack of availability. Now, ELF has finally made its way to Pakistan and you can now treat yourself at www.elfcosmetics.pk. Luckily I was sent a care package containing some of their adorable goodies. So naturally, I was quite excited and even though I haven't been able to use all the things properly as they have just launched, I still want to share my first impressions with you guys.

In my package I got four makeup products and their shades are pretty basic on the whole, at least for warmer skin tones, which means they can be easily incorporated in my everyday makeup routine.

French Food Festival at Asia Live, Avari Towers

Liver Pate with Raspberry Coulis and Melba Toast // Nicoise Salad
Liver Pate with Raspberry Coulis // Nicoise Salad
Bastille Day or the French National day is celebrated on 14th of July and in its honour this time around Asia Live Restaurant at Avari Towers has dedicated two whole weeks of serving authentic French food. Apart from seeing glimpses of French cuisine in Masterchef Austrailia over the years, this was my first time ever to actually experience it in reality along with the Karachi bloggers bunch on 19th of July. So, we had an adventerous evening in terms of food, as we chatted with our hosts which included the French Manager at the restaurant who has enthusiastically brought South French flavours to Karachi.

Eid Frenzy: Makeup and Outfit

The minute the moon of the month of Shawwal was sighted, our whole nation was thrown into a frenzy last night. This happens nearly every year and yet we never learn. Surprise chaand raat (the night a new moon is sighted) and sudden Eid announcement after a month of fasting is always exciting but so many of us still wish to have known earlier. There are always little things left to be crossed on the shopping list and I myself wanted to get matching earrings somehow before time ran out. That couldn't happen since I had to get my henna applied too but putting all of that behind, Eid Mubarak! :)

A few days back, Maybelline New York sent me a bag filled with some of their makeup goodies to incorporate them in my Eid look to be their Babelline! So for today's makeup I tried all of them out and you can find the details below.

Pure Vitamin C Treatment At Wink Beauty Salon

Wink Beauty Salon
Wink Beauty is a newly opened salon in Bukhari Commercial, Karachi, and they are offering 16 amazing Ramadan deals for the first week of July. All the services have been discounted as an Eid treat until Chaand Raat and since there are so many packages being offered right now, from facials to haircuts, that you are bound to find a couple that suit your need. I had the chance of availing a deal myself along with a few of my blogger buddies so we spent a relaxing day at the spa over the weekend.

I went for Pure Vitamin C Treatment and Face Polish which as a deal is priced at 7000 PKR. My skin needs all the help in the world because of the extent of sun damage that it has been through in the past and Vitamin C is known for rejuvenating skin of this sort. It brightens and tightens, boosts collagen production, reduces inflammation and marks. This facial is pricier than my own budget even on a discounted deal but that is why I was intrigued to see how well it works.

I skipped listing my favourites last month because I hardly tried anything new amidst my finals. Besides, I also wanted to talk about some of the things in detail before mentioning them in my favourites post. Let's jump right in.

1. Jordana Ms. Jordana Color Effects Eyeshadow*

Summer means pop of colours and to keep it minimal yet happening this Ms. Jordana eyeshadow is perfection. I like it because it is so easy to wear on its own without going in with ten other transition shades. If you would like to see this gorgeous iridescent purple eyeshadow in action, check out my Easy Makeup For Brown Eyes post.

My Rainy Day Makeup Essentials

I hate rainy days. Did I break your heart? I am sorry. I have a long list of reasons. As a child I never really got why my father would avoid rain, it was so much fun to splash water after all. Now that I am an adult, I can relate. A city like Karachi is still not prepared for rain because it greatly affects our lives. The sewage is underdeveloped and the power outage is inevitable. It turns out to be so much more of a hassle at the end of the day rather than being a bliss. So rain for me is only fun as long as I can be carefree like I was when I was younger.

Confession time, last night I had a little bit of that moment when I was out with my A'levels friends after so long. I hadn't given much thought to rain while putting on my makeup earlier that evening and in fact I was trying to keep it minimal because after becoming a blogger and watching 90 million YouTube videos, I feel like I am the only one who really wears makeup in my circle. Luckily, my product picks turned out to be wise.

11 Foundations For Summer

11 Summer Foundations That Beauty Bloggers Trust

I frequently get asked for foundation suggestions and most of my readers are often concerned about how to keep their face from melting in the summers. I have a dry/combination skin and based on firsthand experience I can mostly be helpful to a certain extent on my own. So, this season I decided to team up with my favourite beauty bloggers from all across Pakistan to bring you a variety of suggestions for different skin types based on their reliable verdict.

Since I myself am more of a dry dragon I love dewy foundations like L'Oreal True Match Lumi all year round. You would only be able to relate if you have dry skin yourself that how much we actually appreciate greasiness (cringe). However for summers, to keep my makeup intact for hours in the humidity of Karachi, I like to use Masarrat Misbah Silk Foundation and this has become an obvious recommendation for the past year in the local beauty community. The shade range has been specifically designed to cater Pakistani skin tones and the formula itself is a bit mattifying. I find the coverage to be heavy and once on, your base won't budge. You can read my complete review for more details and swatches.

Four MAC Lipsticks For Olive Skin Tones

Four MAC Lipsticks For Olive Skin Tones
Four MAC Lipsticks For Olive Skin Tones
An olive complexion basically has a tinge of green and usually warmer complexions are known for having this but some pale beauties can carry it as well. Olive itself can be classed as an overtone and many a times people with this skin tone experience ashiness. Anyways, now that you know what I mean by olive, I would like to point out that I myself have this skin tone and a lot of Pakistanis and Indians do too. So for the longest of time I hated lipsticks because I never got around trying any that suited me.

Wet n Wild Hollywood Boulevard and Cherry Picking Review and Swatches

Wet n Wild Hollywood Boulevard and Cherry Picking Review and Swatches

Wet n Wild is one of the few drugstore/highstreet brands that actually carry good quality products for remarkably affordable price tags. I remember my earliest wishlists on the blog consisted of Wet n Wild eyeshadows and while I still haven't gotten around to trying any, I was lucky enough to get my hands on the Hollywood Boulevard highlighter and Cherry Picking lipstick. Even though the packaging might be off both of these products are gems for the pricing and you will find out why.

Hollywood Boulevard - To Reflect Shimmer Palette from the Fergie Centerstage Collection

This gorgeous baked highlight with streaks of pink and brown is something that I had been lusting after since Fashion Pakistan Week last December. I saw it on somebody I met during that time and immediately gave my heart away. It looked so stunning throughout the night and I was told by its charming wearer that Hollywood Boulevard is supposed to be a dupe of the infamous Becca Champagne Pop. What else was left to even say then? Wet n Wild is not a brand that is sold in stores in Pakistan so after a tireless hunt, I was finally able to get this from Indelath on Facebook. This brings us onto the packaging as the piece I bought was on sale because the product inside had shattered but the seller had been able to press it back in with rubbing alcohol. The plastic compact is huge, chunky and flimsy but you get enough highlighter to last you a lifetime.

DIY Instant Colour Switching Brush Cleaner

DIY Instant Colour Switching Brush Cleaner

Most of us do not keep multiple brushes for the same purpose and this can be sometimes problematic when you need that very brush for another colour. This particularly happens when it comes to eyeshadow brushes as that is when extreme colour switching is required as opposed to a foundation or blush brush. So, months ago I saw some YouTubers using a color switch sponge thingie for instantly cleaning their brushes and picking another colour. Later on, I noticed that my bun donut seems to have the same nylon strand mesh and that is when I got the idea for this DIY.

Working until wee hours and daily sun exposure are the worst things that I put my skin through. Both of these leave me dehydrated and the latter irritates leading to inflammation, patchiness and uneven skin tone. Therefore, I have been forever on a lookout for a product like NYX Dark Circle Concealer which is not too heavy on the pocket and at the same time covers up my intense dark circles and discolourations effectively without being cakey.

How To Keep Your Makeup Organised - 3 Effective Ways

How To Keep Your Makeup Organised

I don't have a huge makeup collection but I do have enough now that it gets difficult to keep track of everything I own. Of course, I want to make sure that I am using the things in my stash from time to time or else they would just collect dust and eventually go bad without getting the love they deserve. In order to do that, I have found three effective ways which prevent my makeup from going to waste.

1. Declutter

This is something that I do every 4 to 5 months by going through all my makeup products and checking what I have not used in a long time. At first, it is a bit tough to let go of some of the things because makeup lovers have sentiments attached to what they buy or as a blogger things that were sent very early on since they symbolise achievement. However, you are nothing more than a hoarder if you don't use what you have and still let it consume space. So, I pass on stuff like blushers and lipsticks that I know my cousins would love and bin stuff like eye pencils and mascaras.

Decluttering is quite satisfying and every time I do this it refreshes my mind as a cluttered stash can be very uninspiring.

Makeup Revolution I Heart Chocolate Palette Review and Swatches

Like I mentioned in yesterday's Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner post that I do not wear eyeshadows on a daily basis, however, Makeup Revolution I Heart Chocolate Wonder Palette is the one that I have had for over a year now and this is what I find myself using a lot for warm toned neutral looks. The brand itself is known for producing affordable knock-offs of high-end makeup products and this one from I ❤ Makeup range is a dupe for Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette. I have tried numerous products from Makeup Revolution and I appreciate its quality for the pricing. As much as I would love to try Too Faced too, it is not available in Pakistan and you have to rely on Facebook sellers which also leads to a further hike in prices.

Starting with the packaging of this I Heart Chocolate Palette, I absolutely love the melted, trickling chocolate design and I find it to be cuter than Too Faced. The casing is made out of plastic but it is sturdy and slender enough to be travel-friendly.  The palette contains 16 eyeshadows, out of which 6 shades are matte and the rest are shimmery with a satin finish but some have noticeable glitter particles too. Since the shades are mostly neutral, this is the only palette I have travelled with in the past but I just wish it had a black as well because then this would have been perfect.

Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Noir Black Review

Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Noir Black Review
Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner in Noir Black
About ten years ago, I started wearing liquid eyeliners and for nearly past four years my go-to makeup look has to have a winged liner. It does not only look put together but is also a lot easier than slapping on eyeshadow everyday. A good wing just works with everything. So since I wear eyeliner so often I need to have a long lasting one and you know gel liners are all the rage for that.

Back in the day, I had one from Catrice but sadly it was dried out. After seeing Jaclyn Hill, the YouTube beauty guru, rave on and on about Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner forever, six months ago I finally caved and bought one in Noir Black. The only reason I put it off for this long was that this gel liner has a reputation of drying out in the pot pretty soon so I didn't want my money to go to waste. Luckily, the formulation has been improved and this little baby survived the extremely cold weather in Lahore which I was really scared that it wouldn't. Even now it is doing quite well and while I do feel that the top layer is not as smooth as it was when I first got it if I dig in deeper it is still buttery soft and works either way. This liner comes in a glass pot and I store it upside down after securing the metal cap to slow down the drying process even more.

Dabbling Into Cream Contouring With L.A. Girl HD Pro Concealer

L.A. Girl HD Pro Concealer in Beautiful Bronze
I think for most of us, the earliest memories of crazy cream contouring goes back to Kim Kardashian and love them or hate them, the Kardashian/Jenner clan has been one of the most influential celebrities when it comes to makeup trends. A lot of people prefer powders over creams and liquids, especially during summer because of the hot, humid weather that melts just about everything. However, if you want your makeup to last, just powders won't cut it for you so that is when it is advised to start with a cream base and layer it with powder.

I personally have dry/combination skin so I love using liquids and creams when it comes to makeup but I agree I do need to powder hardcore during this time of the year because of the sweat dripping season. L.A. Girl HD Pro Concealers have been quite popular lately as the brand has a wide range to choose from for all skin types. They have one of the most sought after colour correctors and concealers. The latter of which are often seen used for cream contouring.

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Gemini Review and Swatches

Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Gemini Review and Swatches
Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Gemini
For the past month, I have been obsessed with the YouTube makeup guru, Jeffree Star, and all of a sudden my best friend bought me this Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Gemini as a birthday gift. My own zodiac sign is Gemini and I was so ecstatic to receive this because if you have been around for long enough, you would know that that I love dusty rose nude shades on myself.

I don't even know where to begin with this review but I have been singing praises ever since on my social media and constantly telling my friends that they need to get it. I have tried a few liquid lipstick brands previously and for the most part, I do not gravitate towards any of them. However, the minute Jeffree Star Gemini touched my lips, I fell in love and I do not take it lightly when I say it has been a life-changing experience, at least when it comes to liquid lipsticks.

Five Holy Grail Sigma Brushes

This post contains PR Samples* and Affiliate* links.
One of the wisest decisions I ever made was to invest in good makeup brushes even before I began building my makeup collection. While I do want to try out various brands that people talk about just for the sake of it, I do not really feel the need to buy a whole new set of makeup brushes because my Sigma Beauty ones keep me covered. If you are somebody who is just starting out and want to invest in good quality brushes, I would suggest you get a Sigma Beauty Essential Kit because this is what I got when I started out and it pretty much has all the essentials in travel size version. The only brush I bought separately is my all time favourite F84 Angled Kabuki brush for a smooth foundation coverage.

Now I am a Sigma Beauty affiliate so I do have some brushes that were sent to me and I love them just as much. In today's post, I am sharing with you guys five of my holy grail, most used brushes from Sigma, and if you want to pick up key brushes from the brand, then check these out. Obviously, I wouldn't say that this is just it but I have been reaching out for these a lot lately so I thought I would share.

Monochrome Apparel ft. Bunny Ears, Kitty Ring, Airplane Studs | Born Pretty

Getting down to the basics, everybody needs some staple monochrome pieces in their wardrobe as when in doubt, just wing it. Black and white, always work and you can either dress these up to make a statement or dress them down for a laid back look. So, using Born Pretty accessories I have put together an outfit which is effortless but still gives the impression that you tried.

For this look, I styled my basic black button-down shirt and slim fit white jeans from Stone Age with bunny ears bowknot headband, a silver cat paw ring and silver aeroplane studs, all of which I got from Born Pretty Store. If you are feeling bold, do the gold, but I aimed for a more casual look and did not want to go all matchy-matchy with more black and white either so silver was the best choice.

In The Heart of Inspiration - An Evening Tea With Shireen Maqsood

Shireen Talat Masood reading a chapter from her book to us.
My father has always said that the company he best enjoys is of people who are much senior to him. Over the years, just like everyone says, I have come to believe that I am a reflection of my dad.

When I was invited over for tea by two respectable ladies that I look up to, Eram Masood and Maliha Rao, I was not fully aware of the subject of the evening but of course, I had to be there. As expected, it turned out to be a delightful evening and today's post is dedicated to our wonderful hostess, Shireen Maqsood who stole my heart with her grace the minute she walked in and it just got better by the hour.

Thermal Highlighting - It's Time For A Crazy Summer Glow

Thermal Highlighting

I was on my Instagram a few days back when I came across a stunning photograph of a girl with an electric blue highlight in the popular feed. So I got to know that "Thermal Highlighting/Strobing" is now a thing but I haven't still seen much of it thereafter. A lot of crazy highlight trends have been catching on lately, summer is the season to glow. We have witnessed rainbow highlight, we have seen Jeffree Star flipping out unusual highlight shades, and now here is a new one on the block which I find extremely cool.

The idea of thermal highlighting is an adaptation of temperature charts and I have seen people do it on just one side of the face so it is more of a photography thing than something you would wear out in stark daylight and. Hence, to capture the full effect of this highlighting technique, photos are taken in dimly lit settings and it is obvious that a lot of tweaking is done with editing software as some photos look too "electrically charged" to be just makeup.

Still On My Mind - The Best of Fashion Pakistan Week

A couple months later, the Fashion Pakistan Week collections that I still think about have to be the most impactful ones, right? Without looking back at photos or cheating at all, the top three on my mind are Kirigami by Nida Azwer Atelier, Bank Alfalah Rising Talent: Uzair Sardar of AIFD, and I am Karachi by Gulabo in this very order.

This year I have been more focused on innovation when it comes to Fashion because otherwise we are seeing a lot of old styles making a comeback. What do you reckon?
