Berlin Doner and Gyro Review

Doner and gyro are two popular street food in Germany, especially amongst Muslims since these are the only meat dishes which are halal and easily available there. So even though doner belongs to Turkey and gyro belongs to Greece, Berlin Doner and Gyro has brought home the scrumptious taste from the streets of Berlin for the foodies in Karachi.

The food chain is fairly new in K-town but has still managed to open three outlets and I happened to visit their newest one in LuckyOne Mall recently. Spoiler alert, I absolutely savoured something that I never even thought I would enjoy! Keep reading to find out what exactly.

Berlin Doner and Gyro Review

Berlin Doner and Gyro offers four types of meat so you have plenty of choices to pick whatever you like or are in the mood for.  There is something for everyone since you can get your doner and gyro with either chicken, lamb, veal or turkey. The prices, of course, do vary depending on what you opt for but the chicken costs the least and the turkey costs the most as far as I can recall.

Mediterranean Tapas at Asia Live, Avari Towers

Asia Live at Avari Towers is known for hosting weekly food festivals from time to time where they bring home cuisine from all over the world so this time around we were treated to Mediterranean Tapas. Tapas are basically small and light snacks originally from Spain and I must say that this food festival was one of those where I actually had a ball devouring all the yummy snacks present for the buffet.

OPI Nail Envy Nail Strengthener Matte Formula Review

My toes have been unlucky since childhood for all my life they have just repeatedly smashed into one thing or the other.  Therefore, my poor toenails have always been cracked and they grow with cracks too. A few months back, my left foot's big toe suffered a serious injury and as a consequence, the nail bed kept bleeding for a while. Eventually, blood clotted under the nail and hence the toenail itself was separated from the actual nail bed but remained on my toe as it was bound to the blood clot beneath it. I hope it all makes sense.

I did see a doctor and there was not much that could be done without enduring more pain so I was given some antiseptics and medicines but the only way I have been able to get rid of the old nail is by clipping it regularly as the new nail grew underneath.

Fast forward, a month ago, I was introduced to OPI Nail Envy Nail Strengthener. This has been formulated with wheat protein and calcium and claims to strengthen nail by resisting cracking, peeling and splitting. Sounds perfect for my toenails, right?

OPI Nail Envy Nail Strengthener Matte Formula Claims

Well, when I started using this product, only a small portion of my old nail was left which you can see in the images below (warning: they will be gross). However, my new nail was again growing with cracks so I was in need of such a product. I used this nail strengthener as directed, so I applied two coats the first time and then one coat every other day. Apparently, this is a matte base coat but I did not wear nail polish at all during this time and did not even remove this before applying a new coat every other day. Towards the end of the month, the product buildup gave a yellow appearance so I did remove it but was amazed that my nail now looked much better and way less cracked than it previously did.

Do note that I only clipped my toenails once during this time since toenails grow much slower than fingernails. Both the photos are without the product applied and you can see the before and after yourself to see how much of a difference there is. Overall, I am pretty pleased with the results and would continue using it.

Curries of The World at Asia Live, Avari Towers

Once again we were back at Asia Live, Avari Towers for another round of food tasting and this time the theme was Curries of The World. I really love how they keep coming up with different themes as we get to try all the food that we would not have otherwise even known about. I personally love curry so I was absolutely thrilled to try all the unique ones that different countries have to offer. You can read how the flavours differ in each country in the photo below.

Curries of The World at Asia Live, Avari Towers

So we had a good variety of options to choose from at the buffet dinner as there were curries from ten different countries, but most of them were Asian. Yet it is still amazing to see how the taste differs across the continent of Asia. Now there's only so much one can eat at buffets so I did not try each and every dish present but I must say that from across the border I liked the taste of Goan Prawns. I could definitely tell that it had some coconut in it which was refreshing to my palate.

5 Things That I Have Learned In 5 Years of Blogging

I have been blogging for FIVE years now?! It seems like I just started yesterday but I am so happy to see how far I have come in this journey that I started without expecting much. Once again, this year as well, I forgot that it is my blog's anniversary today but luckily I realized that it is at one in the noon rather than any later. So I had enough time to reschedule my other posts and plan and write this post where I am sharing the 5 things that I have learned in 5 years of blogging.

Now the reason why I picked this topic for today is that 5 years is a pretty long time for keeping up with a hobby like blogging and I do have some advice that I am sure new bloggers would find helpful. Besides, I do get blogging related questions quite often and while that is not really a niche that I cover often on here, I certainly do want to help anyone who wants to know what has worked for me as a blogger.

So if you are someone who feels overwhelmed or maybe even lost in this wide world of blogging, grab a cuppa and learn from my experience.

1. Consistency Gives You Recognition

This is the most important thing that I have learned in my 5 years of blogging. If you are not constantly producing content and you take too many breaks in between, you are likely to be forgotten. Staying consistent does not mean that you have to blog every day, but give yourself a schedule and stick to it. Post at least once or twice a week if you cannot do it more often and this will get your blog the right kind of attention. However, if you disappear quite often, you would struggle to gain a loyal readership.

3 Reasons Why I Love Bioderma

Bioderma was launched as a revolutionary makeup remover a few years back and I remember reading about it on all of my favourite UK blogs. The micellar water concept was innovative at that time and soon took the beauty world by a storm. So, of course, I had to invest in one too and I assure you that I have never looked back since. If you are interested in reading my detailed review, check out my post on the Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micellar Water from the past.

In today's post, as you can tell by the title, I am sharing with you the 3 reasons why I love Bioderma!

3 Reasons Why I Love Bioderma
Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Water
PR Sample/Sponsored Post*
1. All In One Cleanser

Bioderma micellar water is pretty much an all in one product for people who are always on the go and are bound to keep a low maintenance skin care regime. So on days where I have time constraints, I like to use Bioderma as both, a cleanser and a toner, for preparing my skin before I go in with a moisturiser, sunblock or even a primer if I plan on wearing makeup. It deeply cleanses the skin and ensures that no residue or dirt is left behind, giving me a clean slate to start with.

ELF Hydrating Range: Bubble Mask, Primer and Molten Liquid Eyeshadow

It has been a while since E.L.F launched its hydrating range of products but I only discovered it last month. My skin is dry/combination and I have had dermatitis so I appreciate hydrating products on a whole another level than an average person. I must say that when I first saw the packaging of the ELF's hydrating range, I was quite impressed by the whole aqua green theme as everything looks a bit luxe for a super affordable drugstore brand like ELF. The prices certainly have gone up with this one, but let's first get into the nitty gritty of the products I have been playing with lately.

I was actually sent all of these products by ELF Cosmetics Pakistan, so I was told that I will be sent some products from the hydrating range, but I was also asked to pick another product and a brush (I chose the ELF contouring brush, in case you are curious, but you might have already seen it on my YouTube channel along with all of these products). Anyways, so the products the brand had chosen for me were the bubble mask and the primer, while the molten liquid eyeshadow was what I had picked myself.

Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette Review and Swatches

When I saw the Urban Decay Naked Heat palette online for the first time, I was instantly blown away! This rarely happens to me, that too with eyeshadow palettes. I am not much of an eyeshadow wearer and I mostly just rock winged eyeliner. However, Naked Heat looked so hot and fiery in a single glance, that it was hard to resist.

I waited for the launch dates and inquired local Facebook sellers about the prices they will be offering for it. As always, I was a bit taken aback since the palette itself is quite expensive at $54 but costs even more when bought in Pakistan through third party sellers as most international brands do not directly ship here. This palette ended up costing me 6800 PKR (approximately $68) from Indelath, but it was not an impulsive purchase. I had decided to let it pass initially but Deepica Mutyala on YouTube was the one who sold this to me and I changed my mind again. Her eye makeup looked just so beautiful and therefore, I was convinced that Naked Heat is the most brown girl friendly eyeshadow palette of the year. Even though this palette is warm toned, it is surely wearable for both summer and fall.

Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette Review and Swatches
Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette Review and Swatches
The packaging of the Urban Decay Naked Heat palette is gorgeous itself. I really love the whole matchbox concept and the colour and design of it. The palette is made out of plastic but it is quite sturdy. It has a magnetic closure and comes with a big horizontal mirror. Urban Decay has as always included a dual ended brush in the set which feels nice but the bristles are packed quite densely so while it would be great for packing on product, it is not fluffy enough, in my opinion, for seamless blending.

Silk Avenue Handbag and Shopping Experience Review

Silk Avenue is a UK based brand that sells a variety of bags. The brand just made its way to Pakistan as it has been recently launched online for stylish Pakistani women who love accessorizing but do not want to spend a fortune on high-end bags for daily wear.

I recently got an opportunity of shopping on the website so I picked a Leesun London Front Pocket Handbag in the shade Nude, which looks like a pinky brown. Just by the way, I am so in love with the colour at the moment. They do have a couple other shades in the same style but for some reason, they are all listed separately. As in if I open the link to this bag in a separate tab, I do not get the option to choose black or burgundy from the same page and instead, each has its own separate page. Anyways, Leesun London is one of the main brands featured on Silk Avenue and while I had personally never heard of it, I am actually quite impressed by the quality of my handbag.

The website conveniently lists details like the size of the bag and shows photos of the pockets and straps. However, I did not pull out my measuring tape while shopping for this, so I was actually quite impressed by the size of the bag as I imagined it to be a lot smaller. The only thing different from the photos on the website is the zipper detailing which is a bummer but still not a deal breaker for me. In fact, I would much rather prefer these solid metal zippers over faux leather ones as these can withstand the wear and tear of constant pulls and tugs better. The handbag comes with a shoulder strap too so it is quite versatile and would be ideal for a working woman.

Sigma Beauty Mr. Bunny Travel Kit Review

I love traveling and to ensure a hassle free trip, I like to pack very smartly. So if you ever travel with me, you would know that I never over pack and yet always have the bare essentials needed for a smooth holiday trip. As a makeup enthusiast, of course, I have to always pack some of my favourites, but a brush kit like the Sigma Beauty Mr. Bunny Travel Kit is super important for me as well.

This brush kit basically contains pretty much all the brushes you would ever need and it is such a good investment as a beginner too. There are seven brushes in the Sigma Beauty Mr. Bunny Travel Kit, out of which four are eye brushes and three are face brushes.

E30 Pencil Brush
This is one of my favourites for popping highlight into my inner corner and smoking out the eyeshadow on my lower lashline.

E40 Tapered Blending Brush
Everybody needs an E40 in their life to up their blending game! This brush is quite fluffy and perfect for blending out eyeshadow in the crease and outer corner for a softer look.

July Glowy Box Review | Pakistani Beauty Subscription Box

It's great to see the rise of beauty subscription boxes in Pakistan as these give us a chance to try out some high-end and new makeup brands without causing a dent in our pockets. Glowy Box, in particular, stands out to me for the quality and I love the fact how it just keeps on improving with every passing month.

I was super excited to get my first ever Glowy Box last month and it turned out to be a great value for money. In case you are curious to know, what I got in June Glowy Box, you can always watch my unboxing video here.

Anyways, Glowy Box always reveals the brands and products for each month on their Instagram which is a good thing since you get to see and decide if you like a particular month's box or not rather than spending blindly. The only surprise element is the shades of the products that you would get but since Glowy Box allows you to customize a profile based on your skin tone and preferences, you are likely to get what you like all together.

Tree House Makeup Wipes Review - Do These Actually Work on Waterproof Mascara?

Tree House is a new skin care brand which has released three types of makeup wipes. There is one for makeup removal which comes in a black pack, one for babies which comes in a baby blue pack, and another for repelling mosquitoes which comes in a green pack.

I was sent a cute little hamper along with a Tree House Cleansing Makeup Wipes a little while ago. From the looks of it and the sleek black packaging, I was quite impressed and since these wipes claim to even remove waterproof mascara, I had even higher hopes.

When it comes to makeup removal, I have an extensive ritual and I like to do the full shebang with wipes, micellar water, and cleansers. The wipes also claim that they leave no residue behind, but anyone who has a good understanding of makeup would know that while makeup wipes are great for breaking down the bulk of makeup, you do always need to deep cleanse to make sure there is no residue left behind.

So, I did know that a couple of wipes would not be sufficient to remove everything. Yes, you might not see any more product coming off after a few wipes, but that is all that the wipes are capable of removing. If you follow with makeup removers and cleansers, you would see there is always so much more left behind. That is especially true for base products and therefore I rely on wipes for removing mainly powder products and the top layers. The Tree House wipes are no different and of course, there is still residue left behind. However, since it was expected, I do not even mind that.

Ruffled Sleeves Shirt Trend

We are living in a time where we are enjoying repeating fashion trends from the past. Today's highlight is going to be the ruffled sleeves trend but before we talk about it, let's just touch upon bell sleeves too since all ruffled sleeves are bell shaped.

I remember just the bell sleeves trend had made a comeback around 2007 too and to be honest I did not really appreciate it back then. The fact that even our school decided to change the uniform to one with bell sleeves was a bit too much and that was an absolute fashion disaster in my opinion. Fast forward, 10 years later, we are again wearing bell sleeves but this time ruffles are back in fashion too.

So, I showed you guys some of my top summer trends in a recent video and nearly everyone praised this muted pink blouse with ruffled sleeves. I actually spotted it on To Save and could not resist ordering it as part of my PR haul from the website. I showed you the rings I got from the website in yesterday's post already.

My New Ring Collection - Boho Stackables, Vintage Punk Rock, Dainty

The last time I felt this obsessed with rings was probably ages ago when midi rings became popular. Now even though I love dolling up, I am so forgetful that I hardly ever accessorize and end up skipping jewelry for the most part. I was recently contacted by To Save to choose some stuff from their website and I love budget buys when it comes to smaller things like rings.

So I ended up picking a set of boho stackable rings, a chunky bull dog ring and a dainty antler ring. Now, these were super cheap but they are so pretty that I am obsessed and I have been wearing them pretty much every day.

Boho Stacking Ring Set

If you watch my YouTube videos or follow me on Instagram, you would have surely seen these in some of my videos and posts. I love this set of silver stacking rings as they contain different sizes of rings so some can be worn as midi rings, others as knuckle rings and the rest as normal rings.

The set has 13 rings which are of the bohemian style and they have a nice aged texture and aesthetic detailing. You can wear all of these rings together like I have shown in the photograph, or you can switch them up from time to time. I feel I look like an artistic whenever I am wearing these and I really dig such attire.

Jeffree Star x Manny MUA I'm Shook Velour Liquid Lipstick Review

I fell in love with Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks a year ago when I got Gemini for my birthday and bought three more soon after. That left a dent in my pocket and I skipped buying most of his other releases for the rest of last year. Jeffree Star and Manny MUA are my two favourite men in makeup so when I found out about the Jeffree Star and Manny MUA collaboration, I was ecstatic. I'm Shook particularly got my fancy because it looks so similar to Kylie's Kristen which I had been eyeing for a while but this costs lesser and I am not the biggest fan of Kylie's formula.

This was the first time Jeffree has collaborated with anyone and Manny is a complete opposite of Jeffree when it comes to makeup since he likes to play safe. Therefore, the collection looked pretty good and wearable for most people. Daddy was the more popular shade of velour liquid lipstick from the collection and it sold out quickly. However, since I am still new to greige lipsticks, I wasn't really excited about it. I do want to add Jeffree Star Skin Frost in my collection but I would rather go for something gold toned than Eclipse.

Jeffree Star x Manny MUA I'm Shook Velour Liquid Lipstick Review
I contemplated if I needed another one of his liquid lipsticks just yet and initially decided to let it pass. I'm Shook is such a gorgeous muted tone of red that I could not resist for long and caved. In swatches, it might look quite similar to Gemini and Rose Matter but on the lips, it definitely looks red. Jeffree describes it as a medium toned burnt coral and that is spot on.

My Thoughts Seem Misty But My Mind Is Clear

As raindrops gradually started hitting the ground, panic crossed over me. I wiped the lens, ran back to my spot, hit the shutter through remote control, slid my phone away along the side of the wall, posed and waited for the ten-second countdown to end. Phew!

Shirt - High Low Striped Embroidered Loose Shirt from Zaful*
I have been trying to be more productive than ever right now and even though I have a very hectic schedule already, I do not want to slack when it comes to any path that I have chosen myself. I started my YouTube channel back in February, but could not keep up due to technical difficulties and ETS tests. So, I took a break until I could get back on track. More recently, I was finally able to get a laptop which means I can now edit my videos on a professional software (even if I am no pro myself). It took me a little while to familiarize myself with Sony Vegas Pro, but once I did, I have been enjoying filming and editing a lot more.

It is all still very new to me, I make so many mistakes every day. But what is important is that I keep on moving. Because I feel, we give ourselves too many excuses to not do things and procrastinate. But the truth is the clock never stops ticking. I have been working roughly 15 hours a day at this point and Karachi Electric, PTCL, family, social circles, slumber, and hunger have control over the other 9 hours in my life.

L'Oreal Pure Clay Detox And Brighten Mask Review

Not long ago, L'Oreal took over the beauty scene by launching three Pure Clay masks that soon became every beauty guru's favourites! My Instagram was plastered with photos of people "multi-masking" with L'Oreal Detoxifying, Mattifying, and Exfoliating masks. I don't just jump on the bandwagon, you know. So, I waited for the hype to die down, people to move on, somebody to come along and say that it is not really worth it.

L'Oreal has always been popular for its True Match foundation more than anything else. However, more recently the brand added some more foundations to their range, along with other makeup products. They sure are game, but even though L'Oreal has been selling creams and skincare products for a while too now, they never really attracted as much attention as these masks have managed to gain.

L'Oreal Pure Clay Detox And Brighten Mask Review
L'Oreal Pure Clay Detox And Brighten Mask Review
When I did not come across even a single negative review on the L'Oreal Pure Clay masks, I gave in and decided to check one out for myself. So, a little before Eid, I was shopping at Naheed Supermarket in Karachi when I saw L'Oreal's shelf stacked with all three of the pure clay masks. I was instantly drawn and even though I wanted to get the Exfoliate and Refine Red Algae mask, largely because of the colour, I ended up picking Detox and Brighten Charcoal mask after discussing the pros of each with the helpful salesperson. One other mask in the range is Purifies and Mattifies Eucalyptus mask. All of these masks retail for 1099 PKR and come with matching foaming facewashes too.

MAC Nude Lipsticks for Pakistani Skin Tones

My first MAC lipstick was Crosswires, a bright coral-y pink! I was naïve and shied away from lipsticks, but nude lipsticks, in particular, thinking they would wash me out and look unflattering on my brown skin. Little did I know that MAC nude lipsticks come in a wide shade range and there is so much variety that everyone is bound to find a good everyday lipstick for themselves.

Gone are the days when Jadirah shied away from lipsticks altogether and skipped wearing one even with a full face of makeup on. Over the years, I have tried and tested so many lipsticks for my blog that I actually fell in love with wearing them more than any other makeup product. However, I have noticed that when I am not in a mood for liquid lipsticks, I am only drawn to my MAC lipsticks. I am not sure whether it is the scent or the formula, or both, but hands down, MAC has to be my favourite brand of lipsticks now.
MAC Nude Lipsticks for Indian Pakistani Skin Tones
MAC Nude Lipsticks for Indian/Pakistani Skin Tones
Over the years, I have built myself a small collection of MAC lipsticks but my two most worn shades: Twig and Velvet Teddy, are both nudes for my skin tone. I wear either of these nearly every day, especially if I am on the go. Twig has a satin finish, while Velvet Teddy has a matte finish. I cannot really tell the formula apart but they are both buttery soft, easy to apply without even a mirror, and do not dry out lips at all.

LUSH Face Masks: Oatifix, Don't Look At Me, Ayesha, and BB Seaweed

I introduced myself to LUSH face masks a few months back when I was in Dubai and spotted a LUSH shop at The Dubai Mall. LUSH is known for its bath bombs, lip scrubs, and face masks. The good thing about the brand is that it is organic and cruelty-free. While I have tried a few products in the past that I did enjoy, I was always really intrigued to give LUSH masks a go. Since LUSH does not have an outlet in Pakistan, I definitely had to stock up my lip scrub and grab a few other products while I was in Dubai.

With the help of a very kind LUSH staff member, I ended up buying a full sized tub of Oatifix as my skin is dry/combination and it was winter when I shopped. I covered LUSH Dubai on Snapchat for my blog and Pakistan Beauty Society, so they were kind enough to give me some samples to try out too. Therefore, I ended up getting three more LUSH masks in sample pots, which surprisingly lasted me 3-4 uses each. So, now I am ready to give you my thoughts on all of them.

As the name depicts, Oatifix contains oats but also ground almonds, bananas, glycerin, Sandalwood oil and more such ingredients which soothe irritated skin and nourish it by moisturizing. It has vanilla in it too which gives it a nice yummy scent. This mask has the texture of a thick paste and it is leaves behind a buttery layer on the skin.

The Chateau of Happily Ever Afters - Review & Giveaway!

Just as it started raining last week, I sat down with my copy of The Chateau of Happily Ever Afters. I know rain is not welcomed for the most part around the globe, but here in Pakistan, this is the time when everybody sings soppy love songs and celebrates the advent of monsoon after a hot spell. So obviously, what better time to read a romantic comedy as a Karachiite, eh?

Jaimie Admans is a Welsh author who has just come out with her first book and she mostly writes chick-lits. Now, personally speaking, judge me all you want, I love reading a good chick-lit and Admans has a casual writing style which makes her book an easy and relatable read. I am not going to be giving out any spoilers in this review so you can read it for yourself, but here is the blurb.

I Am NOT Getting A Nose Job

This morning right after sehri, some random stranger tweeted at me 'when are you getting a nose job?', when everyone was complimenting me on a photo that I had recently posted. I had the option to ignore or clap back. I chose the latter not because I was tempted to but because things like these are quite personal and cyber bullying is not a matter to be taken lightly.

Yes, I was genetically blessed with a big round nose and I'm not ashamed of flaunting it. Why would I be? I'm God's artwork nonetheless and I'm not going to surrender to the beauty standards the world has set up. We see people talking back and forth about a lot of such physical appearance related stereotypes and derisive remarks about skin colour, height, weight. Still, nose is one thing that I have never really seen much positive and uplifting talk about.

How To Style A Striped Jumpsuit

We have already discussed in the past how stripes are one of the hottest trends this year in The Rise of Stripes and Gingham post. Of course, with the advent of spring and summer, I had to add a couple of pieces to my own collection. Over the past few months, surfing Zaful for the latest Western trends has become one of my favourite things to do so I felt extremely lucky when I came across this chic Striped Round Neck Short Sleeve Jumpsuit*.

I really love the variety this website has to offer and most of the times you get awesome bargains. I remember hovering over this jumpsuit for a good few weeks and my only concern with jumpsuits has always been sizing. Usually, I easily fit into size Small of most brands but I prefer to wear loose clothes so I shop a size Medium frequently.

Olympia Gym and Spa, Avari Towers

One of the things that I really wanted to do after graduating was to join a gym for maintaining my own health and fitness. I could not sign up previously because I only got free just as the gym hours for ladies ended at my local gyms. However, I am still sitting behind my laptop with a paunch (not really!); I recently got the chance of visiting Olympia Gym and Spa at Avari Towers. Even after graduation, I have been extremely busy so a day out especially for gym and spa was not only refreshing but motivating too.

Olympia Gym and Spa, Avari Towers

So last Sunday, I along with a few other bloggers were invited by Avari Towers to spend some quality time while chilling out at the Olympia Gym and Spa. After a little bit of socializing, my first instinct was to dive into the big blue POOL. However, that morning I had actually left my house in a rush so I was underprepared to take a swim. Besides, later on, I found out that the pool is only open for men and children on Sundays, so I had no regrets. I am sure the male bloggers enjoyed themselves.

Italian Food Festival at Asia Live, Avari Towers

Being a food enthusiast, I was over the moon when I was invited to attend the Italian Food Festival at Avari Towers. Let's be real, we have all grown up loving pizza and pasta and I am sure I was not the only one who anticipated this food festival at Avari, ever since they have started doing such festivals more often.

Leaning Tower of Pisa and Salads
Before we get into the details of what was on the menu, I would like to mention that I did notice that the number of dishes in the buffet was lesser than usual. I did not know what to expect for salads but there was a good variety and everything was fresh and light. I definitely expected a lot more for the dessert, though. That being said, having lesser but some of the finest dishes on the main course menu did allow me to try out most of them. I was also pleasantly surprised that I was pretty much drawn to all the dishes. Otherwise, I am not that eager about trying out meat dishes which I am not familiar with, but there was nothing like that on the menu this time around.

5 Reasons Why I love Colourpop - By Terri Heckley

Colourpop is one of those brands you’ve probably seen so much about in the beauty community, and
there’s a good reason for it. For the longest time, I wasn’t able to get my hands on any Colourpop
products as I live in the UK. However, they now ship internationally which means over the last few months, I’ve made some pretty hefty orders. If you’re still undecided on the brand, here are 5 reasons Colourpop are killing it in the makeup world:

Colourpop Eyeshadows

1. Very Affordable - With basically every product being under $10 they are one of the best brands for not breaking the bank. Seriously, their liquid lips are only $6! Not only that, but they often have value sets and bundles and regular discount codes!

2. Insane Collaborations - Colourpop often teams up with some fab people to bring you a new range of products. Currently, they have ranges with KathleenLights, Karrueche, Alexis Ren and Amanda Steele!

Egyptian Food Festival at Asia Live, Avari Towers

Once again, I am back with another food post, but I am glad that most of you guys do appreciate these. So, last Saturday I got to attend the Egyptian Food Festival at Avari Towers, and here is all that you need to know about it.

Now, I have had Middle Eastern food a lot in this lifetime for I have been to quite a few Arab countries and also do have family friends from the Middle East. Personally speaking, I love my spices so I do prefer Pakistani food over everything, but there are obviously tasty treats that the Middle East has to offer as well. That being said, this was my first time trying out Egyptian cuisine and boy, I was excited. Egypt has such a rich historical background and I am so intrigued by it that I went in expecting that it would somehow reflect in the food as well.

Egyptian Food Festival at Asia Live, Avari Towers

Mind you, I did not get a chance of noting down the names of every single dish that day, because I was a bit tired since I already had another blogging event to cover right before this food festival on the very same day. So you will have to do with my descriptions, which I guarantee will be scrumptious (for the most part).

The Rise of Stripes And Gingham

We have discussed it time and again that all of the old fashion is coming back in style and some of my absolute favourites as of late have been everything centered around stripes and gingham. The two prints have been so popular in the world of fashion and I have seen nearly everyone from the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, to supermodels, to all the stylish babes in town, rocking either or both of these.

Hence, it is safe to say that these prints have to be incorporated into your wardrobes in order to stay trendy. Stripes and gingham are iconic and reminiscent of the last century as both the prints were fairly popular when it comes to old Hollywood. In fact, if you look up the history of these prints, you would know that these are actually more than just a century old, which just this goes to show that stripes and gingham can be never forgotten.

The Comeback of Stripes And Gingham

Let's Talk Stripes

Hands down, stripes are for everybody and that is the beauty of this print. It is not restricted to a certain age or gender in any way. From a toddler to a high school student to anybody in their 70s, just about anyone can easily pull off stripes.

Sunday Brunch At Beach Luxury

A busy week calls for a chill weekend scene and what better way to spend a Sunday than a brunch by the beach? Beach Luxury has just relaunched their Sunday Brunch and I was invited to the opening yesterday. It was pretty exciting as it brings back a lot of childhood memories of the time that I have spent with my family at the hotel. The sea facing location is absolutely serene and beautiful, so I even took the opportunity to shoot my outfit for the day with a new purse that I recently got from Rosegal.

Sunday Brunch At Beach Luxury - White Shirt

I chose to keep my attire fairly casual but I still wanted it to look put together, hence I opted for a button-down white shirt that I seriously got almost ten years ago from Saudi Arabia. It just goes to show that I have not grown up at all since. Haha. I paired it with my blue Levi's jeans and printed white heels from Regal. To add a pop of colour to this otherwise plain outfit, I styled it with a Rosegal Red Metal Zip Embellished Faux Leather Handbag*. This bag does cost a pretty penny at $33.52, but I love the quality and the gold detailing on it. It is quite spacious with two big compartments, three smaller ones on the inside and has a zipper at the back too. The faux jeans pattern with gold zippers on the sides as embellishments add a modern touch it.

Nicole Guerriero x Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit

I just got the Anastasia Beverly Hills x Nicole Guerriero collaboration Glow Kit and I feel so ecstatic! I already did an Instagram Live session where I swatched, talked and answered some questions about the palette but in case you missed it, here are all the details.

Nicole Guerriero is one YouTuber that I have been following for around four years now. While she was not one of the first beauty gurus that I ever came across, she definitely has been the one person I have always somehow felt connected to.

Nicole and Anastasia Palette

I do not usually buy collaboration or limited edition makeup because,

a. Most of the brands do not directly ship to Pakistan. If they do, customs are a hassle and it just ends up being far more expensive than it actually is.

b. The palettes or bundles do not always have all the shades that I would use.

c. They are only available for such a short span that I do not get enough time to make up my mind before things fly out of stock.

However, since I really adore Nicole and her choices, which pretty much always work for me, there was no way I could miss this Limited Edition Glow Kit from Anastasia. The highlighter palette was certainly a love at first sight when I saw it online and all of the swatches from the people who managed to snag one early from their Sephora convinced me further to blow my money on this baby.

French Food Festival 2017 at Avari Towers

Who remembers my first time of trying out French Food (including snails!) at Avari Towers last July? If you do, props to you for sticking around and being here for yet another scrumptious post. Asia Live Restaurant is currently hosting yet another French Food Festival, which will last until 1st April, and things are quite different this time around.

Last year the French Food Festival offered only an a la carte menu while the rest of the food festivals that followed solely offered a buffet dinner. However, this here's another round of the French Food festival again and Asia Live has added a new twist. So now you are getting a buffet for salads and desserts but an a la carte menu for the soups and the main courses. The thought behind this was to prevent food from wasting while people still do get to enjoy salads and sweets as much as they like. It is something new that they have tried but I must say that the restaurant seemed busier than usual and our own order took a while to arrive.

Anyways, starting with the salads, you can see how colorful and tempting the setup looked right from the beginning, that is as soon as I entered, I was drawn to the salad bar. They had the usual assortment of vegetables along with mini sandwiches, tiny meat pies etc. There were also pureed vegetables including bell peppers which tasted amazing with a dollop of cream on top.

Beauty Bar Women Empowerment Campaign And First Impressions

Beauty Bar is an online shopping portal for makeup and beauty products. For the Women's Day, this March, Beauty Bar decided to run a little campaign and promote some of the local businesses which are owned by women entrepreneurs.

Willa Hafeez, who herself is the owner of Beauty Bar, wanted to make quality products accessible to women in Pakistan and hence started the business a year ago. However, she soon realized that women need to cooperate and mutually support each other to be stronger and therefore, took on board 4 equally ambitious women. The idea was to highlight their contribution as female entrepreneurs and in order to do so, all of them together sent some care packages to bloggers filled with one product that each brand has to offer.

The Gift Fairy Box

I did post a couple of unboxing videos of the parcel that I was on sent, on my Facebook page and Instagram, so do check them out if you are interested. I am super proud of the one I posted on Instagram because I tried my hand at something new while making it and it is different than a usual unboxing video.

Burns Road Night at Sky BBQ, Avari Towers

The ongoing Burns Road Night at Avari Towers' restaurant, Sky BBQ, is any desi foodie's dream come true. Burns Road is the infamous food street of Karachi, which used to be busier a few decades back, probably when my parents were my age. I have heard countless stories of scrumptious food that they have had with their friends in their youth and I have always wanted to try it out for myself. While the place is still existent, I have never been able to go there. Probably because the area itself is not as safe as it once used to be and also, it has changed a lot.

You know, Avari hosts a lot of food festivals around the year in its many different restaurants from Asia Live to Dynasty to Fujiyama to, of course, Sky BBQ. So, on the occasion of 23rd March, which happens to be Pakistan Day, for those of you who do not know, Avari Towers came up with the idea of having a Burns Road Night to relive the olden era in a tasteful manner, literally as well as figuratively.

Sky BBQ as the name depicts, is a rooftop barbecue restaurant from where you can view the bustling nightlife of Karachi while enjoying your dinner and the zephyr. I personally love the ambiance the restaurant has to offer as it is formal yet relaxing. Last night, to go with the Burns Road theme, there were painted canvases hung of old movies, the way they used to be outside cinemas. There were also truck art style painted utensils and cultural items like handheld fans displayed. The tables too had an ajrak print cloth along with the usual white and the well-lit setup tied everything together by painting a diorama of livelihood.

How To Style A Satin Baseball Jacket

This year, I showed you two winter trends that I had been longing to try for a while. One of which was Choker Sweater and another was Olive Bomber Jacket. Apart from these, one other fashion trend that has been around for some time now is the incorporation of satin. Be it cocktail dresses, shirts or jackets, satin is in at the moment and is one material that will last through the seasons this year.

Karachi's weather is fluctuating as always and while summer is being anticipated, I am still not quite over winter wear. So, as often as possible, I keep pulling out jackets and cardigans from my closet. After seeing so many celebrities rocking satin bomber jackets, I wanted one too. However, I have been looking for a good varsity jacket too. As mentioned in an earlier blog post, finding trendy western wear, that too at an affordable price is difficult in Pakistan. So, I felt lucky when I came across this gorgeous Wine Red Autumn Lurex Color Block Baseball Jacket on Rosegal*.

This only retails for $23.15, so obviously it is not made out of real silk but has polyester instead. I like how the brand does have such details listed in the description box, along with the size chart. The jacket, however, looks beautiful, has a nice weight to it to keep me warm, and is of great quality. I could not find any stitching faults in it and the snap fasteners (tich buttons) down the front, click in place snugly.

My Experience At Mona J Salon And Atiqa Odho Cosmetics First Impressions

Last week started off with a bloggers meetup at the Mona J Salon for Atiqa Odho Cosmetics. It turned out to be one of the busiest weeks of my blogging life till date. There are so many events to cover in Karachi every day and sometimes even more than one in a day. I usually do not do more than a couple events in a week but last week I just happened to be pretty much everywhere. You would know that if you follow me on my social media and Instagram and Snapchat (jadirahsarmad) in particular because that is how I always take you guys along with me.

Anyways, so this very meetup was on Monday, 6th March, and it was a great start to my week. Atiqa Odho, herself was present at the event and it started with Mona, who is the owner of the salon, giving us a bridal makeup demo as well as a day to night makeup transition demo. Then Atiqa explained a little bit about her range and how different things have inspired her to come up with the products and even their names. For instance, the blushes have been named after birds, the lipsticks after moods and women, powder pigments after gems, eyeshadows after flowers and face powders after coffee and edibles.

Spring Wedding Guest Dress // Pakistani Edition

Spring it is, isn't it? At least, that can be said for Karachi now. I am enjoying the mild weather and exploring the fashion trends for this season. Spring weddings are my absolute favourites as there is something about this time of the year that is very calming and the overall scene is pretty laid back unless you are about to sit board or mock exams. When it comes to Pakistani weddings there are just so many events from engagement to dholki to mayoon to baraat to valima to this dinner, that dinner and what not that you need to have a variety of clothes even as a guest.

What builds up the tension, even more, is when more than just one relative is getting married. This happens to me all the time as usually, siblings here decide to hold their weddings back to back since aunts and uncles from abroad are visiting or to just save some expenses but even then there are a couple of extra events.

Jeffree Star Rose Matter, Gemini, Watermelon Soda, And Unicorn Blood Velour Liquid Lipsticks Review And Swatches

Last Thursday I ecstatically shot a Jeffree Star Lipsticks video for my YouTube channel on a newly bought Canon 70D along with using my glorious ring light. I was pretty happy with the outcome and knew that the swatches of Jeffree Star Rose MatterGeminiWatermelon Soda and Unicorn Blood would help anyone out with a South Asian skin tone like mine.

If you have followed me for a while, you would know that Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks are my absolute favourites and I even wore a Rosegal Asymmetric Curved Cuff Choker* similar to Jeffree's high-end one that he once showed on SnapChat, for this video to go with the theme of his brand. Surprisingly, this is of pretty good quality too but only costs $6.21. Bargain, right? I really love the hinged style and the feel of it too.

However, since there is one other major upgrade left when it comes to my gear for YouTube, I failed to edit the footage successfully on my laptop which is really old and incompatible with most softwares now. It does need to be replaced and in fact, I had to get a laptop before rest of the stuff, but things did not go as planned and now I have to wait another couple of months before we can save to purchase a decent one.

After some inaccurate weather forecasts recently and the sudden spike in temperature, I guess it is safe to say that spring is on its way to Karachi now. I am all set to embrace the beautiful season of blooming buds and chirping birds. Being somebody who loves expressing her mood through fashion, today I am showing you three of my favourite pairs of earrings at the moment.

Transitioning To Spring In Pink With A Choker Jumper

Transitioning To Spring In Pink With A Choker Jumper
Pink Cutout Choker Jumper - Rosegal*
Dark Gray Slim Fit Jeans - La Redoute
White Printed Heels - Regal
As soon as chokers made a comeback a little over a year or so, everybody went high and low to find ways of wearing them more creatively. One of the trends that caught my eye was, of course, the oh so comfy looking yet so chic choker jumper. I have been wanting to get one for quite a few months now and I have not been able to spot one in stores within Pakistan. So, I was really excited when I saw it on Rosegal and they do have quite a variety of on-trend apparel. Anyways, this jumper is available in 5 different colours but oddly I decided to order a pink one, which is so not like me. Ideally, I would have picked black or gray but I wanted to try something different. I am so glad I did because I absolutely LOVE this tea pink shade as it looks flattering against my skin complexion and I have had so many compliments in person as well as on Snapchat from tons of you guys.

More Masarrat Misbah Makeup!

Seeing a Pakistani brand like Masarrat Misbah on par in quality with international brands makes me really proud. Masarrat Misbah makeup has only been around for less than two years now and yet it has won countless hearts with its wide range of makeup products. Time and again, you have seen me, my fellow bloggers and even local makeup artists singing praises of the Masarrat Misbah Silk Foundation for it really does work wonders for Pakistani skin tones. However, there is a lot more that the brand has to offer.

A while ago, I posted a mini video on Instagram and Facebook using Masarrat Misbah Ethereal Glow and Eye Varnish and it did get a lot of views but I never really got around talking about them on my blog. So, in today's post, I am not only sharing those two products but also the Silk Pressed Powder and Stay On Blusher.

All of the Masarrat Misbah products have matte black plastic casing, however, things like Ethereal Glow and Silk Pressed Powder, that come with a mirror are slightly bulkier than the Eye Varnish and Stay on Blusher which have clear lids.
