Sunday Brunch At Beach Luxury

A busy week calls for a chill weekend scene and what better way to spend a Sunday than a brunch by the beach? Beach Luxury has just relaunched their Sunday Brunch and I was invited to the opening yesterday. It was pretty exciting as it brings back a lot of childhood memories of the time that I have spent with my family at the hotel. The sea facing location is absolutely serene and beautiful, so I even took the opportunity to shoot my outfit for the day with a new purse that I recently got from Rosegal.

Sunday Brunch At Beach Luxury - White Shirt

I chose to keep my attire fairly casual but I still wanted it to look put together, hence I opted for a button-down white shirt that I seriously got almost ten years ago from Saudi Arabia. It just goes to show that I have not grown up at all since. Haha. I paired it with my blue Levi's jeans and printed white heels from Regal. To add a pop of colour to this otherwise plain outfit, I styled it with a Rosegal Red Metal Zip Embellished Faux Leather Handbag*. This bag does cost a pretty penny at $33.52, but I love the quality and the gold detailing on it. It is quite spacious with two big compartments, three smaller ones on the inside and has a zipper at the back too. The faux jeans pattern with gold zippers on the sides as embellishments add a modern touch it.

Nicole Guerriero x Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit

I just got the Anastasia Beverly Hills x Nicole Guerriero collaboration Glow Kit and I feel so ecstatic! I already did an Instagram Live session where I swatched, talked and answered some questions about the palette but in case you missed it, here are all the details.

Nicole Guerriero is one YouTuber that I have been following for around four years now. While she was not one of the first beauty gurus that I ever came across, she definitely has been the one person I have always somehow felt connected to.

Nicole and Anastasia Palette

I do not usually buy collaboration or limited edition makeup because,

a. Most of the brands do not directly ship to Pakistan. If they do, customs are a hassle and it just ends up being far more expensive than it actually is.

b. The palettes or bundles do not always have all the shades that I would use.

c. They are only available for such a short span that I do not get enough time to make up my mind before things fly out of stock.

However, since I really adore Nicole and her choices, which pretty much always work for me, there was no way I could miss this Limited Edition Glow Kit from Anastasia. The highlighter palette was certainly a love at first sight when I saw it online and all of the swatches from the people who managed to snag one early from their Sephora convinced me further to blow my money on this baby.

French Food Festival 2017 at Avari Towers

Who remembers my first time of trying out French Food (including snails!) at Avari Towers last July? If you do, props to you for sticking around and being here for yet another scrumptious post. Asia Live Restaurant is currently hosting yet another French Food Festival, which will last until 1st April, and things are quite different this time around.

Last year the French Food Festival offered only an a la carte menu while the rest of the food festivals that followed solely offered a buffet dinner. However, this here's another round of the French Food festival again and Asia Live has added a new twist. So now you are getting a buffet for salads and desserts but an a la carte menu for the soups and the main courses. The thought behind this was to prevent food from wasting while people still do get to enjoy salads and sweets as much as they like. It is something new that they have tried but I must say that the restaurant seemed busier than usual and our own order took a while to arrive.

Anyways, starting with the salads, you can see how colorful and tempting the setup looked right from the beginning, that is as soon as I entered, I was drawn to the salad bar. They had the usual assortment of vegetables along with mini sandwiches, tiny meat pies etc. There were also pureed vegetables including bell peppers which tasted amazing with a dollop of cream on top.

Beauty Bar Women Empowerment Campaign And First Impressions

Beauty Bar is an online shopping portal for makeup and beauty products. For the Women's Day, this March, Beauty Bar decided to run a little campaign and promote some of the local businesses which are owned by women entrepreneurs.

Willa Hafeez, who herself is the owner of Beauty Bar, wanted to make quality products accessible to women in Pakistan and hence started the business a year ago. However, she soon realized that women need to cooperate and mutually support each other to be stronger and therefore, took on board 4 equally ambitious women. The idea was to highlight their contribution as female entrepreneurs and in order to do so, all of them together sent some care packages to bloggers filled with one product that each brand has to offer.

The Gift Fairy Box

I did post a couple of unboxing videos of the parcel that I was on sent, on my Facebook page and Instagram, so do check them out if you are interested. I am super proud of the one I posted on Instagram because I tried my hand at something new while making it and it is different than a usual unboxing video.

Burns Road Night at Sky BBQ, Avari Towers

The ongoing Burns Road Night at Avari Towers' restaurant, Sky BBQ, is any desi foodie's dream come true. Burns Road is the infamous food street of Karachi, which used to be busier a few decades back, probably when my parents were my age. I have heard countless stories of scrumptious food that they have had with their friends in their youth and I have always wanted to try it out for myself. While the place is still existent, I have never been able to go there. Probably because the area itself is not as safe as it once used to be and also, it has changed a lot.

You know, Avari hosts a lot of food festivals around the year in its many different restaurants from Asia Live to Dynasty to Fujiyama to, of course, Sky BBQ. So, on the occasion of 23rd March, which happens to be Pakistan Day, for those of you who do not know, Avari Towers came up with the idea of having a Burns Road Night to relive the olden era in a tasteful manner, literally as well as figuratively.

Sky BBQ as the name depicts, is a rooftop barbecue restaurant from where you can view the bustling nightlife of Karachi while enjoying your dinner and the zephyr. I personally love the ambiance the restaurant has to offer as it is formal yet relaxing. Last night, to go with the Burns Road theme, there were painted canvases hung of old movies, the way they used to be outside cinemas. There were also truck art style painted utensils and cultural items like handheld fans displayed. The tables too had an ajrak print cloth along with the usual white and the well-lit setup tied everything together by painting a diorama of livelihood.

How To Style A Satin Baseball Jacket

This year, I showed you two winter trends that I had been longing to try for a while. One of which was Choker Sweater and another was Olive Bomber Jacket. Apart from these, one other fashion trend that has been around for some time now is the incorporation of satin. Be it cocktail dresses, shirts or jackets, satin is in at the moment and is one material that will last through the seasons this year.

Karachi's weather is fluctuating as always and while summer is being anticipated, I am still not quite over winter wear. So, as often as possible, I keep pulling out jackets and cardigans from my closet. After seeing so many celebrities rocking satin bomber jackets, I wanted one too. However, I have been looking for a good varsity jacket too. As mentioned in an earlier blog post, finding trendy western wear, that too at an affordable price is difficult in Pakistan. So, I felt lucky when I came across this gorgeous Wine Red Autumn Lurex Color Block Baseball Jacket on Rosegal*.

This only retails for $23.15, so obviously it is not made out of real silk but has polyester instead. I like how the brand does have such details listed in the description box, along with the size chart. The jacket, however, looks beautiful, has a nice weight to it to keep me warm, and is of great quality. I could not find any stitching faults in it and the snap fasteners (tich buttons) down the front, click in place snugly.

My Experience At Mona J Salon And Atiqa Odho Cosmetics First Impressions

Last week started off with a bloggers meetup at the Mona J Salon for Atiqa Odho Cosmetics. It turned out to be one of the busiest weeks of my blogging life till date. There are so many events to cover in Karachi every day and sometimes even more than one in a day. I usually do not do more than a couple events in a week but last week I just happened to be pretty much everywhere. You would know that if you follow me on my social media and Instagram and Snapchat (jadirahsarmad) in particular because that is how I always take you guys along with me.

Anyways, so this very meetup was on Monday, 6th March, and it was a great start to my week. Atiqa Odho, herself was present at the event and it started with Mona, who is the owner of the salon, giving us a bridal makeup demo as well as a day to night makeup transition demo. Then Atiqa explained a little bit about her range and how different things have inspired her to come up with the products and even their names. For instance, the blushes have been named after birds, the lipsticks after moods and women, powder pigments after gems, eyeshadows after flowers and face powders after coffee and edibles.

Spring Wedding Guest Dress // Pakistani Edition

Spring it is, isn't it? At least, that can be said for Karachi now. I am enjoying the mild weather and exploring the fashion trends for this season. Spring weddings are my absolute favourites as there is something about this time of the year that is very calming and the overall scene is pretty laid back unless you are about to sit board or mock exams. When it comes to Pakistani weddings there are just so many events from engagement to dholki to mayoon to baraat to valima to this dinner, that dinner and what not that you need to have a variety of clothes even as a guest.

What builds up the tension, even more, is when more than just one relative is getting married. This happens to me all the time as usually, siblings here decide to hold their weddings back to back since aunts and uncles from abroad are visiting or to just save some expenses but even then there are a couple of extra events.

Jeffree Star Rose Matter, Gemini, Watermelon Soda, And Unicorn Blood Velour Liquid Lipsticks Review And Swatches

Last Thursday I ecstatically shot a Jeffree Star Lipsticks video for my YouTube channel on a newly bought Canon 70D along with using my glorious ring light. I was pretty happy with the outcome and knew that the swatches of Jeffree Star Rose MatterGeminiWatermelon Soda and Unicorn Blood would help anyone out with a South Asian skin tone like mine.

If you have followed me for a while, you would know that Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks are my absolute favourites and I even wore a Rosegal Asymmetric Curved Cuff Choker* similar to Jeffree's high-end one that he once showed on SnapChat, for this video to go with the theme of his brand. Surprisingly, this is of pretty good quality too but only costs $6.21. Bargain, right? I really love the hinged style and the feel of it too.

However, since there is one other major upgrade left when it comes to my gear for YouTube, I failed to edit the footage successfully on my laptop which is really old and incompatible with most softwares now. It does need to be replaced and in fact, I had to get a laptop before rest of the stuff, but things did not go as planned and now I have to wait another couple of months before we can save to purchase a decent one.

After some inaccurate weather forecasts recently and the sudden spike in temperature, I guess it is safe to say that spring is on its way to Karachi now. I am all set to embrace the beautiful season of blooming buds and chirping birds. Being somebody who loves expressing her mood through fashion, today I am showing you three of my favourite pairs of earrings at the moment.

Transitioning To Spring In Pink With A Choker Jumper

Transitioning To Spring In Pink With A Choker Jumper
Pink Cutout Choker Jumper - Rosegal*
Dark Gray Slim Fit Jeans - La Redoute
White Printed Heels - Regal
As soon as chokers made a comeback a little over a year or so, everybody went high and low to find ways of wearing them more creatively. One of the trends that caught my eye was, of course, the oh so comfy looking yet so chic choker jumper. I have been wanting to get one for quite a few months now and I have not been able to spot one in stores within Pakistan. So, I was really excited when I saw it on Rosegal and they do have quite a variety of on-trend apparel. Anyways, this jumper is available in 5 different colours but oddly I decided to order a pink one, which is so not like me. Ideally, I would have picked black or gray but I wanted to try something different. I am so glad I did because I absolutely LOVE this tea pink shade as it looks flattering against my skin complexion and I have had so many compliments in person as well as on Snapchat from tons of you guys.

More Masarrat Misbah Makeup!

Seeing a Pakistani brand like Masarrat Misbah on par in quality with international brands makes me really proud. Masarrat Misbah makeup has only been around for less than two years now and yet it has won countless hearts with its wide range of makeup products. Time and again, you have seen me, my fellow bloggers and even local makeup artists singing praises of the Masarrat Misbah Silk Foundation for it really does work wonders for Pakistani skin tones. However, there is a lot more that the brand has to offer.

A while ago, I posted a mini video on Instagram and Facebook using Masarrat Misbah Ethereal Glow and Eye Varnish and it did get a lot of views but I never really got around talking about them on my blog. So, in today's post, I am not only sharing those two products but also the Silk Pressed Powder and Stay On Blusher.

All of the Masarrat Misbah products have matte black plastic casing, however, things like Ethereal Glow and Silk Pressed Powder, that come with a mirror are slightly bulkier than the Eye Varnish and Stay on Blusher which have clear lids.

My Experience At Pro Beauty Class By Hima Raza

Over the weekend, Mirrors by Tazeen was offering two days of Pro Beauty Class which was a makeup workshop conducted by Hima Raza as their makeup artist. Now, I had never before taken any such classes for learning makeup artistry so I was pretty excited to see how it goes when I was given the opportunity to cover the event as a beauty blogger.

Mirrors by Tazeen is located in DHA Phase 5, Karachi and Hima happens to be the owner's daughter who has studied makeup abroad for years before becoming a professional herself. I must say that she has a very sweet and warm personality so right from the beginning I felt very comfortable as her student. There were only around 10 seats available for this workshop so I am glad the class was not congested and this ensured that everybody got individual attention too.

The Dancing Fountain in Dubai & My YOUTUBE Channel

My 2017 has had a great start already and I hope the year would just get better for all of us! If you follow me on my social media, Snapchat and Instagram especially, you would know that I recently flew to UAE. Even though it was a short trip, this break was much needed as I have also just graduated from university and it really helped in refreshing my mind.

So launching my own YouTube channel has been in the pipelines for quite some time. I already had a Skin18 Modeling Cup Mask video up but it was mainly just a demonstration for my blog. However, I have been working on a couple other video projects for the past month so now is the perfect time for me to finally say hello to the world of YouTube.

Chinese Food Festival at Dynasty, Avari Towers

Chinese Food Festival at Dynasty, Avari Towers
Chinese new year starts this Saturday and in its celebration Dynasty, which is a Chinese restaurant at Avari Towers, is holding a food festival. So today, I along with a few other fellow bloggers was invited for another menu tasting. I like how these food festivals are developing my taste buds for a variety of flavours that I would not have dared to try otherwise being a picky eater.

Chinese cuisine does involve a lot of seafood and numerous meat options but this time there still is not anything unusual like the snail I had at French Food Festival. For some reason, most of us had it in our minds that authentic Chinese food is mostly raw, however, that was not the case today. In fact, we were told that meat, in particular, is preferred to be beyond done and I guess that's what most of us here do too in order to kill the bacteria (and protein too). So most of the dishes had fully cooked meat and some of the seafood options were steamed or boiled.

Turkish Food Festival at Asia Live, Avari Towers

Lahmacun

Turkish Food Festival at Asia Live, Avari Towers
You guys know that I have been enjoying the food festivals held at Asia Live, Avari Towers nearly every month or so. As a result, I feel lucky to have been able to try cuisines from so many diverse cultures and countries in such a short span of time. This happens to be the week of Turkish Food Festival at the restaurant and I must say this has to be one of my favourites so far. I am sure a lot of us would agree that we only got to know more about Turkish culture once the country's drama serials hit the national television. Sure, some people did not agree with the idea, but I personally think it was a great exposure for us and I really enjoyed some of the novel based dramas, Ask-i Memnu, better known as Ishq-e-Mamnoon in Urdu, being my favourite. I am not going to defend why I loved it, but you can read my thoughts on it here.

So the reason why I say that the Turkish Food Festival has to be the best one yet is because Turkish cuisine has a good balance when it comes to seasoning and spices. The food was neither bland nor too hot, and therefore, I felt there was something to suit everybody's taste. There were even a couple of dishes that were a bit salty. All of the food festivals at Avari are really extensive when it comes to the menu so you are bound to get a good idea of food from different parts of the country. Turkey is a country rich in history but at the same time it is known for being modern and I feel that translates well into its cuisine.

The Body Shop British Rose Exfoliating Gel Body Scrub Review

The Body Shop British Rose Exfoliating Gel Body Scrub
The Body Shop British Rose Exfoliating Gel Body Scrub*
I am still not quite over the amazing releases that The Body Shop came out with last year. There are one too many ranges that caught my eye but I only managed to grab a few and this exfoliating gel body scrub was one of them from the British Rose range. I am really into skincare be it for face or body so I wanted to try an actual body scrub rather than using a facial one from Freeman or St. Ives on my body as I previously was.

I have resorted to a simpler skincare routine now but I bought this scrub last year for Mother's Day. Honestly, at that time I was still pretty much a gritty scrub gal and this, on the other hand, is a lot gentler because of the gel formulation. So I thought this would be better for my mom as she has pretty soft skin already. Besides, I had never seen a gel body scrub before and it looked so pretty and smelled so lovely that I could not resist getting it. Now, perks of living with your parents include sharing products so yes, I have been using this too.

As the saying goes, 'the eyes are the window to your soul', I couldn't agree more. I am somebody who is not always patient to blend 45 eyeshadows onto my lids and I rather prefer a flicked eyeliner with loads of mascara and even false lashes. I believe if you play up your eyes well it is a really great way of drawing away attention from blemishes or lesser celebrated features. However, there are days when you do not have time for any of that and unless you are blessed with a beautiful set of full lashes naturally, you would want to take better care of them.

Based On Trends Winter Wishlist For 2017

Based On Trends Winter Wishlist For 2017
Based On Trends Winter Wishlist For 2017
It is finally getting chilly in Karachi and this morning I felt that it is about time I should go into hibernation. Too bad that is not an option, however, layering fashionable winter clothing is a great way of not only warming up the body but soul too, right? Towards the end of 2016, I came across a lot of cute winter outfits and they are surely stylish enough to transition with us into 2017. So my wishlist is based on everything that I find trendy this season. It mostly comprises of jackets and cardigans but I have included some accessories too. Fashion this year will continue to be a revival of outfits from decades ago but the best part is you can carry them as they are or add a funky twist. This is the age where everything is accepted and appreciated.

Menu Tasting at House of Wings

House of Wings
House of Wings
What better way to start the new year than talking about food? Yesterday I had the opportunity of trying out the menu at House of Wings and boy, it surpassed my expectations as there was much more to savour than wings. House of Wings is a new double story restaurant in Khadda Market that has a total capacity of 44 seats and offers an extensive variety of American cuisine. So if you are looking for something more than just burgers and fries, you are in for a treat.

First, we were given a tour around the restaurant and while it is not the most spacious one out there, it is still cosy and properly facilitated. The kitchen again is tight but open and squeaky clean. I like the current black and yellow theme they have going on with the cushions but since the place has not yet had an official opening, there are still things that they plan on switching up. Nonetheless, the overall ambiance is fit for fine dining and I am glad it is not just another cafe. Also, only other than most of the vegetables, chicken and bread, everything else is imported to maintain the authenticity of each dish.
